Well..it's a review of sorts.

I purchased the Zero Gravity screen off eBay as a second for a few pennies over $50. I was a little worried that it was a second....but then again, it is a screen and it will get scratched. So I got over my worry.... Then it arrived. It was flawless. I held it up to light... I couldn't find one bubble on scratch...nothing. I consider myself lucky.

Here it is vs the stocker. As you can see, it is much larger. The stocker has the rolled edges, the ZG screen doesn't.

Next you can see it on the bike. So far so good. My dealer didn't have any of the grommets, so I had to take the ones off of my stock windscreen. They are actually easy to pop off. I took a electricians flat blade, some soapy water and it popped right out. I used the flat blade under the front (big round) and pried it up. No scratches as I was careful.

Now for the test ride. Last night at 10pm I took it for a spin. It was in the 60's and I didn't notice a thing. The wind blast used to hit me at my lower ribs and shake the crap out of me on the highway. I am 6' even, 32" inseam and a long torso. Now the wind balst hits me right at my collar bone. The helmet is in clean fresh air. The wind is flowing a bit around me now. So far...it's exactly where I wanted the wind blast. This mornings commute reconfirmed it. I like this screen.

I consider myself lucky as all heck to get a windscreen for a bargin and it works how I want it. Plus it looks good on the black bike!

Now on the Tank Slapper review.

It's basically a 3M static film sheet that is cut to fit. For $15 it was worth it. i have one for my SV which I haven't put back on) and I like it. Now for the Uly, my legs don't touch the "knee pockets" on the "tank" but I put the film on anyways.

Installation was real easy. I used some water/rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle (70/30 mix), Novus #2 polish, good wax. I Novus'd the tank. Waxed it, the sprayed it down with the solution. Remove the film from it's backing, sprayed both sides and then lay it in place. From there, I got the film where I wanted it, and I started to squeege out the excess. I used those paper board coasters (like you get at Outback). I went thru 4 of them. But they don't scratch and they can bend, unlike a credit card. A squeege was too flimsy.

I am happy with the results. The main piece I wanted was the center back section. In the light you can't even see it's on there. Only the flash picked it up.

Good review, thanks. Your screen reminds me of the Buell tall. I am about your size and I found it directed alot of dirty air at my helmet. I think if it was an inch or two lower, it would be better. Beware of those pins popping out at speed. Must...come up with.... "L" shaped lower pin....must.

... or Tall Shield lower hardware kit #57739-07Y. $20 and back-ordered, no surprise.

Glad to hear the stockers pop out, I ordered the screw-types to replace as lowers on the stock screen if and when I ever get the Lip installed to it.

Michael1,

I have been looking for the same 3M film kit. Mind sharing where you found it?

Thanks.

This morning, I ummm... wicked it up a bit for about 5 miles and no feeling of it popping off. It was still solid when I got to work. And by wicking it up, I mean, I should have been in jail today.

The 3M kit is from http://www.thetankslapper.biz

Or google tank slapper. Super fast shipping and it's not a bad deal for a set that are die cut already. I tried the do-it-yourself on my Suzuki... ummm.. it was hideous.

I don't see Buell listed on the tankslapper site.

Click on next on the order page and Buell/HD is the first company. I'm assuming we would order the XB12s kit for the Uly?

I just checked the Zero Gravity site. No listing for a screen for the XB12X.

???

Okay.. garage is clean... Just finished it up this today. When we did a week M/C trip to Deals gap, when we got back.. we just tossed everything.

The Tankslapper stuff is under HD. I got the XB12S kit. It's the same thing. You DON'T want the XB12R (Firebolt) kit....

The screen... still good for me. Clean air to my head. I am heading out for a ride right now, I just bought a new Nolan N102E modular helmet. I am dying to try it out. Hopefully it's all good with the new screen. My old Arai was heaven with it.

The Screen isn't on ZG's site yet. It has just been released and it flowing through the channels to come to market. I got one just because it was a "second" I am happy with it. I am not sure how it compares to the tall Buell screen though. I am sure they are pretty close.

I am hoping Givi or National comes out with a screen. I like the Nationals because of the way it channels the air around the rider instead of over. I know the Cee Bailey 16 -bazillion inch one does that... but that's WAY too big for me.

The Nolans are neat looking. Got my son an N102 from Helmet Harbor. It's nice but a little heavy for my tastes. Quality throughout though, nothing cheap about it. Not enough jaw room in any of those flip-up helmets for me. Us bohunks got the big Neanderthal (or maybe Cro Magnum ) style jaw bones.

So far the N102 is a great helmet. It is quiet (no whistling - with the VPS off) yet noisey at the same time (low rumble from the air).

The VPS is a stinky add-on, good thing they include side covers to fill in when you take the VPS off. Other than that, it's a well made helmet, full SS latches and mating components. Soft interior, decent venting. Comes with an anti-fog visor and has pockets for speakers.

I am happy with it and would recommend it to anyone.

Just received my Zero Gravity windscreen today, part number for those that may be interested is 23-858-41 for the sport touring clear. St Paul HD included a set of stock mounting pins, I am considering making some sort of safety latch if I use them.

Does anyone have the upgraded Buell mount and is it still a quick release?

How tall is the ZG vs. the Buell tall windscreen? I have the Buell one, and I don't like it at all. It puts the bottom of the airflow on my neck, and there's a lot of head buffeting.

Does Zero Gravity sell a replacement for the original? Does anyone have a model number?
