Am I the only one that finds the seat to be too "grippy"?

I find that the texture on the rider's portion of the seat holds me in place a little too well, making it difficult to shift my weight while in the twisties. Does the texture wear down after a while?

Howdy!

I found that spraying the seat with lemon or orange Pledge Furniture Polish helps to make the seat a bit less "Grippy". It makes the seat smell good, too!

If I ever bother to wax the bike, I will probably use Pledge for that, too.

I have not tried Armour-All on the seat. I think that it might be too slippery or slimy. However, it wouldn't hurt to try Armour-All, if you have some handy.

Have Fun!

Yeah, sitting on the back of the bike wondering what the #$%^ do I do now is no fun!

Early lesson from the first fast bike I ever rode. It was back in the late 70s, a KZ900, I got on the gas after being used to my little KZ400 and found myself asking that very question...I didn't go down but I did need a change of shorts after I regained my posture!

I had the exact same problem to the point that I was having trouble on transitions in curves. I ride in Darien pants, and it was full on friction.

My solution was made for me. The dealership swapped out the 06 for the 07 seat. The 07 seat is much slicker.

I'd think Armor-all would attract dirt and turn your seat brown (who wants to ride with someone who looks like they soiled themselves while riding?).

UPS man just brought me a new 2007 seat, "N0025.2AKYW SEAT, FULL, STANDARD, BLACK". Its not slick at all. Feels sorta rubbery, like the original seat. I was expecting more of the carbon fiber that look I saw on the model displayed in Sturgis (Rapid City Harley show). Its lower and maybe a little softer, but not what I was expecting. I ordered based on the information from this thread. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142838/219478.html Maybe what I got was really an 06 low seat?

I think I'm going to have to hunt down an 07 Ulysses in the showroom and check out the seat before I make a decision one way or the other about ordering the 07 stock seat.

I want something much less grippy - like the material that Sargent uses, but I love the stock seat shape. I wouldn't mind if the nose were a little bit more narrow to help me maneuver in parking lots and whatnot, but don't want to give up any seat to peg distance either. I want it all and I don't want to pay $500 for a custom seat!

Maybe my seat is a low seat. I don't know, but it doesn't look like the 07 now that I have looked at the picture. Shaped the same, but different fabric.

With my riding pants, the new seat is much slicker.

Jjg, got any pics of what you have you could send?

It wouldn't be a bad idea for a seat thread showing options from Buell and after-market manufacturers.

Unfortunately my daughter ran off with my digital camera. I can tell you the seat I received is a lot lower. I can flat foot with both feet now. The material is similar to the stock seat and covers both front and rear sections. The front part is covered with a single piece except for the very front near the airbox cover. There is a small patch added there. I can tell you it fit my 06 Uly perfectly. Paid $87.20 from Chicago Harley's web site. Haven't taken it out for a test ride yet.

About 10 months ago or so on BadWeb there was quite a bit of conversation and photos about the various seats avaiable. I think DaveS had comparison height photos of Buell, Buell low and Corbin.

I really didn't like the stickyness and the side seam on the stock seat so I replace it almost immediately even in the face of many articles saying what a great seat it was.

I purchased the Corbin seat and have done over 600 mile days on it. I find it very supportive. It is fairly slick more so with cloth riding pants, not so slick with jeans or leather pants. I really like the shape, ease of moving around on it to set up corners, and reduced seat height.

Jjg I think you have the legit '07.

If you had a '06 Low you'd know it since it costs over $200, at $90 you stole it.

Don't knock it til you try it.

I have all three, the '06 Low is like sitting on the subframe rails. The stock '06 is perfect in dimensions for me but too soft.

The '07 is firmer but a little lower with more varied riding positions. Been riding the heck out of it this last week and finally have come to terms, still my ideal would be even firmer and shaped like the standard '06 with the '07's sewn pattern.
