My dealer, Dillon Brother's HD/Buell, called me this morning to say that the parts were in and to bring-er in. Mine will be done today. That's nice that they called me.

Yep, it appears "they" are taking this recall seriously, as I got a call from the local dealer too. And, I didn't even buy the bike from them.

I'm going to call and make an appointment on the 14th if I don't get called.

I think that's when the letter said the parts would arrive at the dealer.

My parts or on order. I am going to mark the bolts to be sure that they switched them too.

It is my understanding that it is the mounting bolts and the pivot bolt that gets replaced.

Is there anything else?

To replace the one of the two mounting bolts the muffler needs to be removed.

I wonder if the factory will follow their own recommendation to replace the three torca clamps that hold the muffler on?

I'm marking the muffler straps for sure. I'll know if the bolts are changed because I replaced mine with allen head bolts.

Not only muffler straps but also the torca clamp is supposed to be replaced too if I am not mistaken?

I wonder if they will take my license plate off and slide an 07 in the 06's place?
Damn, then I would have to go through break in again! Oh, forget it, just replace the side stand!

Does the dealer need to order the parts or does Buell just send them out? My dealer says that the parts will come in, and that they are not able to order them.

During the early stages of a recall. The manufacturer issues a stop sale order for any affected units still in dealer inventory. Said units cannot be sold until the recall is complete; they get the first batch of parts.
From there, parts are allocated and sent by the manufacturer to the dealer, based on "their" sales of the affected units. Then when sufficient parts are in the pipe line, dealers are allowed to "stock order" the recall parts as needed.

That's why I was surprised that the local H/D dealer called me so soon. I didn't buy the bike from them, so I figured I'd be last in line...

I'm going to pick my bike up tomorrow. I had it in for the fan and brake rotor. The service writer noticed the the recall while it was in and requested a kit. Best part of all the rotor, the fan, the clutch cable holder and the kit were all covered by the warranty. I have been one of the lucky ones, my kick stand has not broke off. I abuse it on a regular basis. I step up on the peg and swing my other leg over the seat. Then I leave it down while my wife climbs on the same way (of course I have both feet down at that time). I also used it raise both the front and rear wheel off the ground at the dealer before I bought it (Just to make sure I could lift it up and block for road side repairs). I guess, I was hard on it and lucky at the same time.

Uhh....after the little "sidestand" deal, we're not using the phrase "pick my bike up" anymore....we've superceded it with "go collect my bike".

I love corpora-speak.

My sidestand was replaced with the recall-fix sidestand yesterday. The new stand is black and I'm pretty sure the replaced unit was grey?? They gave me a copy of the 4 page Service Bulletin. Should I post it??

Heck yeah, post it or PM it to me. Did they change the front muffler strap when they performed the replacement? My stand is black and hasn't been done yet.

The recall kit has a stand with mounting bracket, 2 clamps and a bag of new bolts. I opened mine at the dealership to see what was being done before taking the bike in. It looks as if mine will be the first one done at Lancaster H/D Buell. They are very good with the service side and the sales department is catching up. 3 or 4 of their techs and service people own and ride Buells so there is a small community of us there.

When you say it has 2 clamps in the bag do you mean 2 new muffler clamps?

I indicated to my dealer that I needed to make sure the torca clamp and front muffler strap were replaced as per the manual. The general manger told me that if they needed to be replaced they would be included in the recall kit. I just want to know if this is true.

I don't have much confidence in the clueless service department writer that had to ask me where the key was located. Not very inspiring. : (

If memory serves me, and at times it doesn't, there were only 2 clamps in the box. A small for the header and a large for the hanger. My bike goes in tonight so we will see. I am also going to point out, again, the rusting muffler & have copies of the thread about the rust problem to show the service department.

Sorry for late post guys, but I had mine replaced last Sunday at Lake Erie H-D in Ohio while on vacation. They replaced the whole sidestand and two muffler clamps on mine. I walked in while they had the muffler hanging down and asked why because it didn't really look like it need to be down for the kickstand replacement. They told me they had to drop it to get the kickstand off and it gets two new straps because of it. The new kickstand looks to have a longer spring along with the newly designed circlip style pin mount. It also seems more black than the old one like someone said. Took them about an hour as it was the very first one they had done and took their time to make sure they did it right.

Thats great that they replace the muffler clamps upon removal. After all the shop manual specifcally mentions that. Not replacing them would be like fixing a safety problem and creating a new one.

Those clamps are not cheap. About $25 apiece retail. Lots of people reuse them anyway. Way to go Buell.

I'm getting mine replaced this morning. The service writer showed me the recall kit. It comes with a side stand, mounting bolts, torca clamp, and a muffler strap. Now I just have to make sure all those shiny new things somehow find their way on the bike.

I got my bike back from the dealer this morning. Appears all the clamps are shiny, new and void of any marking I put on them. Oh yea, the side stand is different too.
Only took 3 days to git-er-done...

See you at the Rock Store tomorrow.

I got mine installed yesterday! A week earlier my license plate light housing fell off due to the plastic cracking.
Dealer could not find anything about an updated housing part so they just pull one off a new bike to take care of me.
They were having a blood drive that day and had food set up. So they feed me while I waited for the repairs!
THANK YOU GOVER HD OF PIQUA, OHIO!

You guys are lucky, the dealer here (Corpus Christi HD) says they still have'nt received any recall kits as of this morning when I went to check.

They said they had no clue as to when these kits would be sent to them.

My dealer says side stand kits are on order to call him back in a few weeks. I called him back the same day to tell him to order a license plate light to put on at the same time under warranty. It fell off, I was expecting it. Amazing how if you read about someone having a problem you are most likely going to wind up with the same problem eventually.
