Haven't posted in a long time, or much at all for that matter. But I found something I don't remember seeing mentioned in past threads.
While cleaning and generally fuzting around with my uly I noticed a connector with a plug hanging down behind my headlights. Turns out it accepts a 194 bulb, and when the connector is pressed into a hole between the headlights gives you a front light in the "park" key position. Shines out through the square cut-outs in the reflector housing to illuminate both lights, not too bright but noticable at night. Maybe mine was just not installed by the dealer, but I thought it was something others might like to know about.

That is actually the european city light plug if I remember correctly. Does it not come on in any other position?

Parking lights are standard on most European models. Your taillight should also light up when put in the park position. The Europeans say it is for parking on the narrow dark streets that are so common over there.

I use mine for setting up camp in the dark.

The tail light comes on as well.

It's just enough light to keep you from tripping over things. It also dosen't draw enough power to drain the battery if used for reasonable amounts of time. The LED tail light also dosen't use alot of power either. Trick.

NOTE: Be aware that when the key is in the "park" position, the acc. port is energized. Anything pluged in or wired to that circuit (heated grips, GPS, ect.) will place additional load on the battery.

I saw a mod somewhere (can't recall where), that used the parking light power to run the low beam. This allowed the low beam to stay on when running the bright light.

Chad,

The high/low beam mod is a jumper between the yellow and blue wires in the high beam switch housing.

Fellas,

The Uly's 'third eye' has been discussed before.

I can't imagine why you would use those wires to keep the low beam on, when you can just jumper the blue/yellow and have the parking light too. It's convienient and it makes me feel a little safer if I park on a dark road to check the map, have a smoke etc...
Mine stays on any time the key is in the on or park position, though it has basically no effect with the headlights on.
I missed that older post, it happens from time to time.....
It amazes me that they don't just install them in all the bikes to begin with. I can just picture them coming down the assembly line, " Hey Bob take that bulb back out. That bikes getting sold in the U.S. We only put those in the euros"
