I replaced my coil last night and it appeared to have rusty powder around the forward most bolt terminal. After examining the metal inner tube there appears to be a ring of arc marks inside the tube. I think the coil must have a micro crack in the case. After a test ride today there was no more miss or surging. I am now looking forward to a ride in the rain to test it out!

You got to love this bike!

I had that problem on my old CB900 Honda. Everytime it rained or I washed it the engine would go to 2 of the 4 cylinders. I figured it out by reaching under the gas tank and grabbing the coils while it was missing. Talk about a jolt. I fixed it with epoxy glue and no more problem after that.

Problem with the Buell is that a mouse can't get to the coil without a roll away tool box.
