I called my Buell dealer or should I say Harley dealer asking about getting the race ecm installed when I bring the bike in for its 1,000 mile service. The counter fellow said that the parts manager just told him that Buell has not yet released a new ECM for the Uly. Can someone please send me the part #?
I would go to another dealer if this is the reaction that they have without even looking in the book, but this dealer is the closest and it is 1 hour away.
When I get the # I will call the counter fellow back and tell him to look in the cataloque where, when I purchsed the bike we looked up the entire race kit.
Thanks
Paul

Hi, Paul!

This past week, my dealer installed a Race ECM into my Ulysses that is marked with part number 32621-03Y on a bar code label on the ECM.

I hope that helps you out.

Good Luck!

It's the same one as for all the other XB12 bikes.
32620-03Y
is the part number

Hmmmmm...

What motor was the Race ECM that was installed into my bike intended for? It is marked "Race Use Only" and it has the number that I posted in my original post.

I just checked my number again to see if I had made an error. Nope, no error. The number on my Race ECM does not match the number supplied by Daves.

I do not question Daves information in this matter. There is a precedent here on BadWeb for this type of discrepancy from the factory.

I remember a thread here on BadWeb about some earlier ECM's having different numbers for the same application. One person even had a Race ECM BOX with one number, that contained a Race ECM with a different number!

Did my Dealer make a mistake? My bike has a much more linear and smooth throttle response now, with the new Race ECM in it, than it had when it was equipped with the Stock ECM in it. My Race ECM is performing exactly like I was told that it would perform. Yet, it seems to have an incorrect number marked on it.

Any clarification would be appreciated!

Well, I just did a "Search" for this problem of a proper Race ECM Part Number. I found many Threads on BadWeb regarding this controversy.

It seems that the discrepancy between the two XB-12 Race ECM numbers, # 32620-03Y and #32621-03Y, has been with us since the XB-12 Race Kits became available. The XB-9 Race Kits also have this same discrepancy.

Court may have proposed the most likely theory to explain this discrepancy. So far, I have not found any follow up to confirm Court's theory.
