I'm in the North Dallas TX area and am trying to buy a '07 XB12X. My house is about equidistant from no less than three Buell dealerships. I've asked all three to give me a call if they receive a black one. The Corinth TX dealership quoted me something like $14,270 driveout, including top and side cases. They wanted to charge me the absolute max on everything. I haven't gotten a quote from the other two dealerships but fear the same. I've started to wonder if I shouldn't consider buying out of state. Please, let me know what should be a respectable driveout cost for an '07 Uly with bags. If I can't get within an airfare's difference locally, I may just take a trip. Also, what does buying out of state do to tax, title and registration? Thanks in advance. | ||

I buy out of state a lot because Albuquerque dealers are so few and far between that getting a deal is hard here. I did happen to get a killer deal on my Uly at Sante Fe HD though. $14,270 sounds high to me, but I don't know the rates for TX TT+L. I personally think you should be out the door with luggage for no higher than $12,995. I wouldn't even pay that, but again your TT+L may be a lot higher than NM. Be careful because I have found a lot of HD dealers being committed to charging a dealer fee. Whatever. If they say they have to charge $1000 dealer fee, then it should come off the MSRP. If you buy out of state, you have to pay TT+L out of your pocket when you get home to register it. You only pay for the bike at the time of purchase. If you are doing a loan through the bank, they usually take care of all that for you if you make an out of state purchase. Joel | ||

I paid $11,500 out the door with installed hard bags and top case for my 06'. Others even paid less. You should travel and buy one and get to know your ULY on a nice trip to back home. Give these guys a call and see what they say http://www.dillonharley.com/ I went in when I was looking and told them what I would pay and they said "We can do that" and that was that. I also paid $11,500 out the door bags and case top case installed, plus dealers cost fo rlarge screen and low seat. It was an 06 at the begining of this July. | ||

I paid 13,841 out the door at American Eagle (Corinth) for my 06. That included side/top cases, tank bag and tall windshield (but not installed by the dealer). But mine is the faster orange one! | ||

I got no price breaks, either on the bike or the bags and other gear I bought that week. About $13k out the door for the bike. Because I got a better deal IMO. Dealer was offering a special, $500 accessories credit or free servicing for the warranty period, even if you extended the warranty. I jumped on that free service deal. Bike is 3 months old and in for its 5k now. Since they would've charged me $350 for the 1k, and maybe more for the 5k, I figure I've already saved $800 or so. Five services or so per year for two years... my MSRP bike is getting cheaper all the time!  | ||

My dealer offered me something called the Edge program. for 2500.00 I get a 3 year unlimited mileage no deductable warranty, and free services for the same 3 years. I average around 15k miles a year, depending on winter weather. What do you guys think? | ||

Lorazapam, does the 3 year unlimited start after the 2 year unlimited factory warranty runs out? For what they ask for a 10k mi. Service, its sounds like a good deal. I still like to do my own service but I'm gonna need help with the fork oil change. | ||

Is there a deductible? Stone Mountain Harley-Davidson charges $1600 for a prepaid 3 year service plan. 20k miles is the break even point, so if you do more than that in 3 years, you're in good shape. If you're doing 45k in 3 years, you're probably getting about $3600 worth of service, so seems like a good deal even if you don't factor the warranty in. |
