What are my options for a cruise control for a Uly?? I was not sure if any would work or not with the hand guards sticking in the side of the bars. | ||

Friend at work just had the coolest c/c installed on his Road King, but it's NOT cheap. Around $200 installed, I believe. Unlike the clamp types, it's hardly noticeable. His bike has so much chrome (including the grips) that the highly polished chromed c/c fit right in and looks like part of the grip. They come in black too he says. Move the slide switch up and the c/c activates, the grip is now held in whatever position you choose by a system of ball bearings, I don't know yet how it works exactly. The bearings allow microadjustments and movement of the grip, there is only a minor effort against the ratcheting action of the bearings required to rotate the grip. About the same effort but more consistent than with the friction screw on my BMW. Slide the switch down and it's free to rotate shut by itself again. Works great while standing next to the bike but he assured me he loves the thing and it works great on the road also. It is very well made of seemingly excellent metals, no plastic that I remember. I'd get one myself but my vacation I just took, the new rear tire I've got on order, the R/S scoop I just ordered, and two broken Audis in the family... you know how it is. He's supposed to email me the info to the website but he's on the road, should be back in today so I'll post a link asap. | ||

Anyone have a pic of the Vista installed on their Uly?? I am guessing some drilling was required. | ||

I just deleted some pics I took for someone else on the board a few month ago. I will try and get some more. It does require a little modification to the Vista and a small hole drilled in the housing of the throttle. It took me about an hour or so to do it all. It is pretty simple though. | ||

Installing the Vista Cruise throttle lock entails trimming traction grip back from switch housing (before installing grip) and drilling a small hole in throttle lock and housing for a small bolt/nut to secure throttle lock   Frank | ||

Ka5ysy, I checked out the installation flash vid for the Harleys (which took half the morning on dialup...) but it looks pretty simple if instructions are followed. If you feel confident enough to install it yourself, try emailing them on their contact link. Maybe they can send you one, I don't know. Or maybe another BadWebber could pick one up for you (including me) and arrange a send. | ||

ftd - How did you trim the grip? I currently have about an 1/8th of an inch. How much do you need? fubar | ||

Fubar, If you are working with a grip off the bike, leave it in the freezer overnight and use a coarse belt on a belt sander. Wear heavy leather work gloves, use a light touch on the feed, and keep the grip moving. Jack | ||
