I also posted this in the XB section.

I went to make a front shock pre-load adjustment this evening and it turned very hard and made a awful sounding screeching noise. I had a 10k fork service done about 1,500 miles ago. Last time I made an adjustment, it turned very smooth. This was only on the left fork. The right turned nice and smooth. It's almost like it needs lubrication. Any comments, advise?

Sounds like the adjuster may have been damaged during the service. They should turn firm and smooth.
I'd go back and discuss it with the dealership.
