Would the dealers has parts manuals and pricing for the 07 models yet?

I would like to find out the price for the 07 seat. This stock seat is killing my rear end for anything longer than a 20 min ride.

That is something. For me it is the best seat I have ever ridden on. I've had custom seats built and Corbins and they don't even come close to the stock Uly seat.

I know the overwhelming opinion is that this a great seat. However thats not the case with me. My rear literally goes numb after 20 minutes.

Has anybody seen the Schwinn bicycle seats that they sell a WalMart that utilize micro-beads of Styrofoam to aid in butt comfort. I haven't tried it or heard of anyone who has but it feels like it would work. Have you heard of anyone trying this on motorcycle seats. Seems like it would work similar to how the Air-Hawk does. Gel pads are OK but if left out in the sun they heat up like an oven and once hot will literally fry your ass relentlessly. I noticed that on the ULY seat last weekend and it doesn't have any gel. It was about 100 out and we went for a ride and stopped at this park. When I got back on the bike the sun and the rear cylinder had warmed up the stock seat and my ass felt very uncomfortably hot for the rest of the ride.

I don't know about microbeads but many folks have used beaded seat covers with great success.

Chrisb,
Start riding a bicycle, like the Tour de France riders. The Uly seat will feel like a cloud... ; )

The stock seat is killing you?!

Holy crap dude, the new seat will not be more comfortable, in fact you are going to be hard pressed to find ANY motorcycle seat that is more comfortable. (Outside of large touring bikes...)

What is it that mean exactly "killing" you? What hurts?

The center of my rear end goes numb after 20 min. Then the pain kicks in after an hour. I've ridden Corbin seats that are twice as hard and dont have this problem.

I think it has alot to do with the squareness of the seat. Its cutting off circulation.

The seat on my '78 R100S gave motomag testriders plenty to complain about back then, it's thinly padded at the front and hard. Best long distance seat I've ridden. Most BMW seats are like that, flat, wide, not-soft.

I agree somewhat that the '06 standard seat can be uncomfortable on a tour, as I found out last week. The shape is great but I think it's too soft. Nice thing is it's big enough and triangular enough for me to move around and change the pressure points once in awhile. For normal riding it's great, but string up some multi-hundred mile days and for me it becomes an issue.

The '07 seat I'm reading now may not fit the '06... that's too bad since I was hoping the 1" drop with the '06 shape could maybe mean firmer padding, I was ready to fit one to my bike.

I hope our '06's don't become "1 year orphans" with limited parts availability after a few years.

Stock seat was killing me after about 45min. Pressure right on the bottom of my hip bones. seat is not wide enough.
Low seat was better but was HOT even with Odie's heat sheild..
Picked up a used Corbin and just put it on..
The low seat will be good this winter heated with no wiring!

I've done two 750 mile days on my low seat, and my butt was fine. Have you tried one out yet?

I had a Corbin on my Concours, and the stock seat on my GL1800 Wing. I find both the standard and also the lower seat on the XB12X to be better than eother of the other bikes.

I saw and sat on the new seat at Laguna Seca today. The Buell rep I talked to said that he has one on his '06 and it definitely fits.

Was great to see Jeremy McWilliams on Warr's HD XB-rr take a solid 8th in a field of 30!

I checked out the new Uly seat also. Felt like it should be pretty comfy. Wide and flat in the back. I like the way they've rounded off the front also.
I like my 06 stock seat better because I need the leg room, but this one seems very nice and would work out better for most folks I think.

Heres some guy trying to kick start the uly.

The Buell dudes hooked me up with some XBRR posters, T-Shirt and some Red Bull. Enjoyed the booth and talking to the reps. Very Cool!

That's a good pic Bosh, thanks. Seem to be some weird contours there but I want to try one out. Did it seem firmer than the stock '06 seat?

I think the kickstarting guy will adjust if he's serious enough. I know a couple of brothers, one of which is definitely not tall. Years ago he bought a Cagiva/Ducati Elefant. He couldn't touch the ground at a stop while vertical. His technique while approaching stops was to slide off to the left and stand there with his left leg, with his right leg draped over the seat. Green light he would hop back up and be on his way.

Fast as hell once rolling, by the way.

I think of that whenever the occasional thought that the Uly is tall creeps in.

Hey Bosh, any closer pix of the windscreen?

Yea, the new seat is more firm than the 06. Felt like it would be comfortable, of course I only sat on it for a short time. Makes a VERY noticeable hight difference. The orange part of the seat is made of the same textured material as the front (black part). The 06 as you know is smooth where the passenger sits (on the orange bikes anyway).
Saw a sweet Elefant there also:

I didn't notice the wind screen being any different than the 06 so didn't take any shots of it.

That's good info. I'm OK with the stock seat's height but firmer padding is what I'd like for my '06.

I have a brand new Low seat in a box, maybe I should put a couple hundred miles on it before I decide what to do with it, but the gel is weird IMO and it sits too low for me (longish legs).

If the '07 stock seat will fit then maybe it is a good happy medium choice.

Does anybody see any reason why that Elefant's minimal type of frame-mount couldn't be designed for the Uly?

Hopefully we can get the p/n and get some seats on order. I picked up a stock seat from a fellow badwebber yesterday. I'm going to go a little slicing with a bread knife this afternoon.

Slicing operation complete. Rode the bike for an hour no numbness. Still a bit of pressure on the ole tailbone.

How about some photos chris. Inquiring minds want to know....
Just got back from Laguna Seca again today. Usually I ride with full leathers when I go long distance but today I wore Levis. That seam running down the sides of the seat got quite annoying after about 300 miles. Can't feel it with leathers on.
The new seat design with the rounded edges looks pretty good right now.

Xbimmer, I went by the Buell display and double checked on the wind screen, it's the same as 06.

I took my first longer ride on the bike this Friday and Saturday with the wife. I noticed what ChrisB said. After about 20min I also start going numb and find myself moving all around to relieve the pain. I thought the stock seat was awesome back and forth to work, but 20 mins on it in 99 degree weather and it starts to hurt. The seams also really dig into my thighs after that amount of time and get really uncomfortable. My wife also wants more padding for the passenger part. We were both dying to get off after about 20 min sections of riding. We put about 250 miles all around town these past two days and loved everything else about the bike. Does the '07 seat have more padding for the passenger by any chance? It looks far more comfy than the '06 to me due to the no seams and roundness up front. Is there anyone with a Corbin that can comment on the passenger part?

Thanks,
Joel (and wife)

Ok, Here is a pic along with a yellow stocker to compare. KEEP IN MIND I HAVENT STAPLED THE COVER DOWN YET.

I worked with it more later, dishing it out and putting a gel insert and taking it for a ride. Still some tailbone pressure. However after 30 min ride I was pain/numb free.

Chrisb,

Did you make the front a little more narrow? It kind of looks like it in the pics, but I'm not sure. I find I'm getting extreme pressure from the seems due to the seats width or squareness up front.

JM,

Narrowed the front and removed the square edge all the way back. The squareness was killing me too.

The dishing I did later seemed to help the most. Going to see if I can find some 1/2" high density foam later for a covering for the butt buffer gel.

Didn't really read all the other posts but, I work at a dealer and we havn't got 07 parts books yet, just got the HD 07 P/A book. I'm sure more will come fast, someone who can navagate HDNET good might be able to find you the seat though in 07 product stuff.
