Daves hooked me up with the race ECM last week, (only other mod is a regular Drummer). The bike runs great, no surging, no popping. I have noticed that it decelerates much slower now. With my hand off the throttle, the engine seems keep going once it gets in the lower rpm range. I took the air cover off to make sure the butterfly was closing all the way and it looked fine. Is this a function of how the race ECM works or did the tech incorrectly recalibrate the TPS? Any help is appreciated.

I have noticed the same with mine. I installed my race kit last week. I thought it was just me when I thought the idle came down slower than before. I suppose it is something the race ECM does.

I had a similar issue with the stock ECU. A combo of TPS and idle speed set too high fixed it for me.

The heavy flywheel makes the bike run on a bit after the throttle is closed. If it's "hanging" around 2000 rpm or so, I'd say your idle is set too high.

Had same problem with mine. Talked to Daves & he suggested lowering the idle "a tiny bit." Idle is now almost exactly on the "1" & it works fine. VERY occasionally still hangs up a bit but not enough to further fiddle with the idle. When it does hang up (as said, rarely after adj), I downshift & let the clutch out. Settles right down.

Less exhaust restriction causes the reduction!
I have noticed this on all bikes that I have made exhaust mods.

My bike has done this since the day I bought it, and continued even since I installed the race kit.

My solution, I use the brakes to slow the engine, not pulling in the clutch until I hit about 2K rpm.

I've been round and round with various dealers and mechanics on this, nobody ever gave me a solution so I "fixed" it myself.

My 12S did it and my Uly did it too. It disapeared by itself. I also used the clutch "trick" Anyone else noticed it going away by itself ?

With model airplane and heli engines, this is a sign of a lean condition thorough the mid range. Just a thought.

I had the same problem with mine for about the first thousand miles or so. Now at 3600 miles it idles down just fine when I close the throttle. I also have the Buell Race Kit exhaust.
