I just bought my 06' Uly three days ago and was wondering if there is anything I should know before road tripping this bike. Also thinking about doing some bike camping with it, any hint/tricks?

you should really try to suffer through the 500 mile break in procedure. At least as long as you can stand it.

I put about 300 miles on mine before I took off to Daytona on mine. I changed the oil before I left and the bike did excellent. I have packed all 3 bags full and a tent and sleeping bag strapped on the back. I set the suspension up as the book says for the load I estimated I was carrying and it rode great on the interstate, I have not experienced any of the "wandering" others have mentioned. I believe that problem is probably a combination of tires and suspension set up. This has been the most fun I have had on a bike on a long time, you will love the Uly. It seems to do every thing reasonably well.

I'll wait that long I guess (500miles)but then it's on. oh ya Chris I have not noticed the problem either but then I have only been out for a hundred or so miles on it, and the suspension does not bother me it's a little like my crf450r, so it works for me.

Congrats on the new bike. 500 miles is easy to do on the Uly. I broke mine in almost entirely on dirt roads.

Congrats, I love mine, going on fourth week.

First 500 agonizing... I picked up bike on Wed and hit 500 Sat P.M., ramped it up some next 100 and then started riding it the way I would. Amazing how it smoothes out above 3k, and man is there a rush at 4k!

1k service went well, leakage at oilcooler lines fixed, Syn3 change, this thing pings like crazy in SoCA weather and they said "everything fine" but around here they say there could be a timing problem. Will address soon.

Will hit 2k this week and I'm feeling really good about getting this bike instead of another BMW (or ?) except for the sidestand issue which has got me sorta nervous...

You've got a pretty unique motorcycle, get ready for the various reactions at the watering holes!

Hey guys, congrats on the new bikes!

You guys will have a great time on the Uly, on all types of surfaces.

IMO: It handles better two-up on the highway (no wobble solo, just more planted feeling), it can haul nearly as much stuff as a small SUV (and still haul A#*), the wife is getting used to the "accidental" wheelie, the more miles I put on it, the better it runs, turns lots of heads (people think they will see a Harley, but when they look they get a funny look on their faces), this thing is an absolute blast to ride!

Snub, "people think they will see a Harley". That's because you picked black. When they see an ORANGE Uly, they know it's a BUELL!

No I picked black because that's the one my wife said I could by, she said and I qoute "I'm not going to ride on the back of a school bus". refering to the color. And me being thankful she let me buy it said "ok".

Smart man. Mine liked the orange (as do I), so it is in the garage.

I bought my Orange one when the House monster got really angry with me. (who know why this time).

Congrats on the the bike Maxsteel! I just turned 1400 miles and I have the bike apart right now on it's second oil change. Still waiting to get in to Dealer for the 1000 mile check. I hope you don't live in Northern VA. (have an "appointment" for 7/5)

Congrats on the bike! I did the motoman break-in and never looked back. With the gearing I never had to go near redline(REAL near) Bike has 2K on it and gets better as the miles pile on. I haven't seen the wobbling unless I'm pulling a wheelie.
The more I ride it the more I like it!!
Race kit, Corbin seat, and Laminar Lip installed so far.

Hey ya'LL I'm glad I'm not the only one who has to submit to the happy wife happy life rule of thumb. Now with that said the best way to spend money on projects you like is to involve them (the wives). Also what's up with the gearing on this bike, first is kinda tall A.. Stop and crawl traffic not so fun on this bike. love it the rest of the time.
