My exhaust started rusting within 1K mi and I decided to let it go but now its starting to look bad and I don't want to to rust all of the way through. For those of you that have had theirs replaced due to rust, is the new exhaust any different than the original one? Has it started rusting yet? It seems a waste of time to just hang another can on there that's going to start rusting again. I'd rather get a can of hi temp BBQ paint and re do it myself if that's all they are doing to fix this problem.

I had my rusted muffler replaced under warranty at 2,000 miles and the new 1 has started to rust already, despite hardly being ridden in the rain. The first one at least had the excuse of being ridden through the winter on salted roads. I've heard Buell are giving the option of having the muffler replaced or the old one ceramic coated, might take that option next.

Same for me.

Is this true? That would be great.

The dealer here in Tampa replaced mine after they gave me the customer service number for Buell. After I talked to customer service, they gave me a tech# and told me to take the muffler to the dealer. 5 days later, new muffler. Of course, I have already replaced mine with a Drummer SS, so the new one will be shelved.

My muffler replacement (under warranty with 5000 miles on it) has been ordered. Does anyone know if the ceramic coating option is true or not (as in centurian's post)?

My dealer offered to replace mine, but I opted to just paint it myself instead.

Hmmm...

Reminds me why many mufflers are made out of a different alloys.

Additionally, why some others come with drain plugs to let the condensation out.

Still none of the above are designed to be a bash plate either.

Makes me wonder what future generation Buell mufflers will be like.

My muffler is rusting like crazy too.. i wonder if buell will call it an appearance prob and cover it.. I thought it was just mine ... but now i know... if it is just cosmetic , I think I will splash some header paint on it .. I want the ok from buell first... I dont want to void my warranty by "altering " my bike again... I am Sure Buell will do the "Right thing " and offer a fix...

ride Va Y'ALL

Hey , Does an aftermarket muff void warranty?
