The service manual says 2.5 quarts for an oil change. When I put exactly 2.5 quarts in, the dipstick reads less than 1/2 full (hot). This includes the oil I put in the oil filter as the service manual states. When I put in more oil (0.1 quarts), I had some blow up through the breather tubes. Any similar observations? Anybody have any oil eating issues? Maybe my dipstick is too short. |

My dipstick was too short. I had it surgically "enhanced" to better impress my friends and family. My confidence level has raised and I got that promotion at work. I am not only a client of Big Dipsticks LLC. I am the owner of a big dip stick! |

2 1/2 quarts hits the middle of the second X from the bottom of the stick on my bike when cold. So that is where it should be. |

During the factory visit, I confirmed with one of the assembly techs the amount of oil they add to the dry engine. 2.8 quarts is what he told me. Anything between 2.5 and 2.8 should be fine. |
