Great Demo Startling price!
Wow, took a demo today of a new Uly. I had the faster orange one out. :-) I love that Bike. A lot of fun to ride. I have a very dirty history and therefore I'm used to knobby tires and not leaning over too far in the corners. This bike gave me so much confidence right away I was just amazed! Yes, it was not set up very well for my 6"1' 208 lb frame but still a very nice ride nun the less. From my point of view ( a long time thumper rider) here's what I noticed.

A fun flickable bike. Handles like it weighs a lot less, maybe 360 lb.? I rode it for 45 minutes and I was doubling back several times to just take those corners a little faster. What Fun! I am buying one these!

I had to look for the all the awful wobbling some speak of. A lot of off road tires are much worst that this when on the road. Again, I had to look for this trait to study it. If I hadn't read about on the boards, I may have not noticed it between 0 and 80 mph. I tried to find the "decelerating through 50" vibration by having just one hand on the center of the bars, but was unsuccessful. "I've got to get me one of these!" (will smith, independence day)

I was expecting more power. I think it could use more power. At 4.11 lb. per hp, while it's not too bad, I think somewhere south of 3.4 lb. per hp would be great, say 125 hp with an increase in torque. The reason I feel this way maybe because the rest of the bike just seems so capable. Everything else seems top notch, the frame the C.G., the wheel base, the brakes and the over all quality and fit and finish, a little more power would bring the engine up with the rest of this excellent bike. Then again, it may delay me getting into trouble till Eric finds a way to put a light v-rod motor in there. That said I can imagine that the engine with 50 miles on it is tight and will pull harder later. I'll let you know when I get 1000 miles on mine!

I had jeans on and didn't notice the hot left leg right away. It was sunny and 75 degrees in Winchester Virginia this afternoon. When the fan came on, I did notice that my right thigh got a little warm as it came off the seat. The fan as two speeds I noticed. When it came on, it came on and went to high. I would image that this heat will dissipate when the bike gets broken in. In any event, it wasn't that bad. I can't wait!

I didn't realize it but the bike had the "low" seat on it. I was very comfortable. Sitting on another one in the showroom I did like the higher seat height better, but I'm not so sure If I would like it better than that dished out seat. I'm going to get one of these, hmm...

I stood up a little and was able to steer really well with my legs. While flying over some railroad tracks I got the whole bike airborne. Landed pretty nicely. Felt really good. Once again, I can't believe the confidence that this bike gives. I will be right at home when I bring mine home.

I have decent credit (good I would image). I own my home, have a great job and I pay my bills. I got a "YES back from the "F and I" guy. But, 240 a month was more than I figured with 3k down. I asked him the interest rate and I nearly fainted when he said 12.1% Ouch! That and the sale man told me the price of the bike was $11,950.00 and they don't make deals. They would sell me accessories for 10% less but that's it! Isn't the MSRP $11.495.00? What's the extra 500 bucks for, Too bad I won't be buying that bike.

I expect to pay more for stuff made in America, but that sounds a little much. Any one around Northern VA get a better price.

Can't comment on your side of the Pacific. But if your credit is that good, you would do a hell of a lot better in Aus. I would have thought about 8.9% or worse case 9.9%in Aus. Unfortunately our dollar is weaker so we are paying a whole lot more for our XBOXes.

Check with your local credit union or bank for a better rate. I think when I checked last October they were running in the 8.9-9.9% as Tel posted. Keep looking and check with the sponsor dealerships and see what they can offer.

I just redid my loan with my local credit union and got 6.2%APR vs the 9.9% I got through H-D. I have excellent credit and had a 6.something on my last electraglide. The FandI guy said H-D won't do better than 9.9 on buells right now. Anyway, redid my wife's loan to and saved some bucks. I had 0 down/0 interest/ 0 payments for 3 months on the H-D loan so I wasn't out anything.

Get a line of credit on your house. Usually only around 5%.

Or do what I did and have a mega Ebay/Craigslist sale and pay cash for the bike. Dont think you have 12k of stuff laying around? You'd be amazed when you start cleaning stuff out.

There are better deals if your willing to travel.

Shop somewhere else. Dealers need you more than you need them.

Bearly, hopefully we'll both be in Uly's soon. I'm in Virginia too and was quoted the following rates from the local credit union.
4.5% for 48 months or 4.75% for 60 months.
That would put the payment around $250 but there is a shorter term. I say EFFF HD finance and go your own route. I was quoted $12,300 OTD just a little south of you in Roanoke. They have 2 black bikes there. NUTS

Thanks all for the reply's. I am going to shop this.
One thing that I haven't heard of is people paying more than MSRP before I went to this Dealership. This one was charging me 500 bucks over. I don't think I want to do that.

The Dealership has a great new state-of-the-art building though! Next I time I visit, I'm going drive up in a in an 86 Buick Skylark and look poor!

Part of the problem is the bike. I have to have one.

Or... just be patient and find one used (slightly) like I did, $8500 (850 miles.)
Found it right here on The Bad Weather Bikers' bikes for sale board.

If I hadn't already bought before I found the BadWeb, I'd have bought it the DaveS and Appleton for sure.

I know elsewhere on the board he recently did an OTD quote, and it sure wasn't above retail. Personally, I'd look him up!

Just noticed a Uly for sale in the Classifieds here on BadWeb located in FL. Could be worth the drive.

Bearly,
Colonial HD in Colonial Heights (Petersburg) had a better interest rate but I paid MSRP. Ask for Alton
or
You might want to try York Town (Hampton Roads HD) They use Port Alliance Credit Union. Great Rates!!! They had Buells in 2003. Give them a call.

I have great credit and when I went to finance my xb12Ss harley wanted to stick it to me. The guy says "you did great, I can get you 11.5%". Wow what a deal. I checked with capitol one, they were offering 8.9%. Then I went to my credit union and got 5.9%.

If Harley was even a little more reasonable I would have gone with them. If they offered it around 8 or 9% I probably wouldn't have gone looking elsewhere. But 11.5, come on.

Bearly - My dealer will soon have a Henderson NC store that will have part of it's region in south central VA. If you want I can give you the GM name and number at the Goldsboro NC store that I bought mine from. They made me a great deal and I am sure if they have one left, you won't be disappointed. They also have stores in Smithfield NC and Durham NC too. The Smithfield NC store is right on I-95.

Bearly, the 07s will ber out very shortly, so you should be able to negotiate (something many Harley dealers do not understand) the price to roughly MSRP out the door. I know in the first part of May I test rode my orange uly and told the dealer I wanted it, they came back with "It'll cost you this much" and I told them that I was ready to buy that day, but since it wasn't a Harley, they would have to deal. Told them I was thinking MSRP out the door and they came really close to meeting it. There are dealers that visit this site that will sell for less and ship you the bike for an amount you will be surprised. I live in California, so I needed the California bike, or I would have done that. I think Daves had a Buell demo at his shop a week or so ago and maybe they got good deals on the bike. Shop around!

Bearly,

I've had my Uly for 8 mo. now and have 14k mi. on it.

I'ts great to hear from someone who is not reluctant to compaire a Uly to a big bore 4-stroke dirt bike tuned for pavement.

Compaired to most bikes I've been on (mostly dual sport and dirt bikes) on pavement the Uly inspires confidence, feels stable even with the 616's, rips up corners, and even handles being airborne fairly well as long as the luggage is not on it. The seat is high but so are all modern capable dirt bikes.

I felt the same as you about the power at first. It took about 5k mi before the engine felt fully broke in. Now I've learned to appreciate the modest horsepower and awesome torque curve, and man this thing really can pull. It's especially evident when the luggage is loaded and you want to go up a mountain pass fast. Give that lump of a motor a chance, I'm very sastified with mine.

I absolutly love mine, It's a hooligan, sport bike, comfortable tourer, gravel and dirt road bike, and sounds awesome with the drummer on it when I go crusing with my crusier buddies. I'm very pleased with it.
