I cant get this thing to run on my pda. I've got a HP ipaq model rx1955. I can get the program on the pda but when I go to run the exe file it says "VDSTS cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found."
I dont know if this helps or not but when I view the same exe file on my pc it shows up as a unreadable file. I'm really looking forward to messing with this thing if it would only work for me.

Hey Chief, it's normal not to be able to run an exe for a PocketPC on your desktop - different processor types and OS.

As far as the error you're getting it sounds like someone has turned up the security settings on your iPaq but I'm not up to speed on which OS version is on the rx1955 - is this something you bought for yourself or a work unit? PM me if you want some help.

Well its my own pda that I bought specifically for this, but I'll be damned if I can figure out how to change the security settings on it.

This might be a stupid question but if there was an installation process did you actually go through that? I have heard of problems by simply copying the files of the program onto the device and then trying to run them.

Programs usually have an installation program that is run from the PC through ActiveSync to talk with the PDA to install the program. The program has to register itself with the Windows Operating System on the PDA and the installation process is how that is done.

Check the documentation or any instructions explaining the install or operation of the software.

It is true that PDA .exe files usually cannot be run on a computer and vice versa.

I am not aware of any security settings for running programs. The digitally signed deal means that Microsoft has not tested that software for compatibility...likely they did not buy VDSTS and check to see if it works.

I am wondering if the cables need to be connected in order to start up...I run the VDSTS on a laptop and the program starts up but I can't do anything until the cables are connected.

Nope no installation process that I can find, I'm about to just buy a long usb cable and hook my bike to my home pc through that, since I can get the VDSTS to work fine on my pc.
Oh and before anyone gets confused when you buy VDSTS it comes with apc version, a couple of palm versions, and a windows p.d.a. version on the same disk. I just wish I could get the p.d.a. version to work.

The actual message it shows is "unable to connect to SCM" The SCM is the Smart Comm Module which I can find no mention of in the manual.
