I have the one the Midnightrider linked (BackOFF XP) on my M2 and like it fine. It was an simple install, fits easily in the the tail light housing. A light touch on either brake, no perceptible slowing, gets it going and I think it is much more of an attention getter than the stock light. I sometimes see people back off. Jack |

it's easy to lose a bike's brake lights in the crowd, so to speak, when you are stopped in traffic at night. when you get the back-off, there are two modes. each has its own wiring, i replaced the reflector below the license plate with another led assembly ($5 at advance auto). I ran one mode (the repeating flash-flash-flash then steady mode) to the regular tail/brake light and the second mode - (four quick flashes then steady on)to the added LED. Besides that, I put two blue LEDs (I swear they are the brightest of the colors) in faucet washers and mounted these in the two lower holes of the license plate. I tied these into the mode two wiring. A little obsessive maybe, but (so far) effective, The flashing blue is a real attention getter. If only I could do something similar up front.... |

Dave, I wired mine in by cutting the brake light wire and putting male and female bullet connectors on the ends. Then I put appropriately sexed connectors on the BackOFF module and inserted in between the ends. Should I ever want or have to remove the BackOFF I can simply rejoin the original wires. A ground is also needed, for that I used one of those Scotchlok T-Tap connectors to one of the two or three grounds (all black) in the area. I always put some dielectic/dielectric compound on all connectors before I join them, it will make them easier to join and guard against moisture and corrosion. Jack |
