Motorcycle Online currently has an article called "Cheesecake in the Heartland" which is about the 2006 Indianapolis Motorcycle Dealer's Expo. In it there is a mention of a Italian company named Verlicchi Nino e Figli that apparently makes the XB frames. Buell purportedly has some new bike they are developing that Verlicchi wants to be part of. That is all that is said on the subject because Verlicchi of course wouldn't didn't want to jeopardize their chances of getting chosen to make more Buell parts.

I'm betting the next few years are going to be good for Buell. Harley is making money, and hopefully Buell has recouped the R&D costs of the XB line and stuffed some money away to use toward developing something that will set the world on its ear.

If it demands an entirely new frame it's probably a brand new bike. Not an XB varient. Verlicchi could just tweak the current frame for that. For instance, an XB1200RT.

A brand new frame probably means a brand new bike. Perhaps a full size Blast?

If they are just talking about the new frame now it will be at least 4 years to production. That should be just about right for me.

Here comes the Buell GS-Killer!

More steering lock, tkc-80's, bigger gas tank, digital HUD on full size windscreen, Fully adjustable seats 2" up or down, standard. HID headlights with modulator, LED Strobes on stop tail light. Built in GPS with full street maps and terrain mapping, plus XM Radio and weather service displayed on LCD instrument panel. Real digital fuel guage. Hydraulic clutch. 60MPG multigrade fuel engine. Complete software package for use on the integral LCD display, plus mac/pc software for USB for diagnostics and mapping adjustment, as well as accessing maintenance manual and historical operational data recorder as standard equipment. Basic took kit either MAC or Snap-On. Standard heat deflectors integral to the cooling fan assembly. A real center stand wrapped around the race-kit muffler. I'd think it'd be neat if Buell added some flex-fuel (E85) capability.

Cheers

Flex fuel capability and lower octane requirements would be nice for those out of the way side road trips.

It had better be able to burn E85 and used french fry oil. No muffler because it cancels all noise with anti-noise and will utilize software that allows any level and type of sound you want. I'll be opting for Beethoven's "Flight of the Bumblebee" cause it just scares the hell out of the Cong. Oh yeah, I just love the smell of napalm in the morning, it's the smell of Victory.

Glider, I love the fact that you've replaced the traditional "Flight of the Valkyries" with Rimsky-Korsakov's "Flight of the Bumblebee." It really helps complete the image of what you're after, although in that case it might be more appropriate for you to be on a Yellow (yes, I know the spec sheet says it's orange) Uly.

Not XM.. It's got be Sirius.. or at least give you the option please.. Aside from that.. sounds like a winner if you've got the depth of pocket.

Okay, I didn't see an answer to one of the questions above, but I'm thinking I'd pay anything under about $14,500 w/bags for the bike described above. Even though it won't get me up and down tail of the dragon like mine did this week! I can't wait until Killboy.com gets the pictures posted!!!

And of course a new frame configuration would make the increased fuel, greater steering lock and larger diameter front wheel option all possible pretty quick. Oh yeah, while you are at it, please build mine with a six speed to offer a slightly lower (for squashing BMW's in the slow and dirty stretches) first, and ever so slightly taller sixth (thinking 3500 rpm at 80 mph would be great, and help mileage too).

And if it takes less than 4 years, I'll bite the bullet on mine and buy anyway...

I'll second the fuel guage, and add in a second or multi line LCD display so I can see what time it is and how far I've gone. That would keep me out of hot water with the wife. : )

The E85 would decrease the range (lower mpg) but my commute has E85 available at either end. It's cheaper than 92 (enough to offset the lower mpg) and its higher octane. Finally my money would be going to Big Ag (ADM) rather than Big Oil/Middle East. Every little bit helps I guess.

Cheers
Brett

Rubber: I agree with the 14,500 range. That would put it dead on with the GS price range and with superior technology would eat it up. (Sorry GS'ers!)

I wonder if Anonymous EB is lurking about??? Hi EB If you get down Louisiana way, I make a mean gumbo and fresh bread!

Ok, so we need a designation and a name:

For model I suggest XB12GSK

Name: Prometheus,

the rebel god; in defiance of Zeus, he gave fire and other comforts to the mortals on the earth.

That is a pretty good description of the Buell design ethic!

Not to ruin the party, but I don't see where the current Uly can't "eat up" the GS anyways. Just depends on the game.

One of the big draws to me of the Uly was the simplicity. It's like really good food. Not a lot of frills, just the basics done VERY well.

I personally hope Buell doesn't get carried away with your suggestions. : )

I agree with Steve....just give me a two line LCD and a fuel guage and I'm a happy guy.
