I quick question. Assuming I was willing to travel. Is it realistic to think I could find a dealer that would let a Uly with Bag System go out the door for 12k or less? This would include all fees (dealer prep, tax/title and tags, etc.).

I'm just trying to get an idea of what's a realistic goal.

Thanks

Not a good Buell dealer.

Here's my deal
11495.00
240.00 frt
0 set up
849.95 all 3 bags, installed
-500.00 discount
12084.95
you would need to pay your tax and lic when you get it back to VA

I bought my Ulysses for cheap and drove out of state to pick it up.

If I had to do it over again, I would have bought from Daves. Not because I've had any problems, or because he's cheaper, but because he would be there if I needed someone to go to bat for me.

I have a lot of respect for Daves. He's here everyday helping us, and offering us parts and services at discount prices. Mind you, it helps him make money too, but there's nothing wrong with that. That's GOOD business.

I wish I had a Buell dealer close by that would treat me as well as Daves has.

Thanks DAVES!

I'll second that post Chad. A big high five to Dave. Nice to have someone on here as knowledgeable as Dave is and he is always here. Thanks Dave

That deal there that Daves is offering is at least $1000 less then I paid for mine in the Seattle area back in Oct.

Unfortunatly the logistics didn't work out for me.

The buying experence I had was OK, but I'm sure it would have been much better in Appleton. I'm sure the fly, buy, and ride promotion was an awesome time.

+1

Similar experience to Chad but I bought local. I got a good price, but they dropped the ball on the signed windshield thing, then lied about it. Haven't been back since except to have my bags installed as that was written into the deal. I've purchase a few parts through Dave for the various mishaps I've had on my Uly. My next Buell purchase will be from DaveS.

The bikes cost the dealers about $9760. Freight costs depend on the dealer and the volume. Add to that any profit and % to pay for keeping the dealership open and you get an idea. Add the bags for probably another $450 in dealer cost. I picked up my Uly in Socal out the door a little under the 12k number three weeks ago, but without bags.

Dave is the man!

I got a good deal from a very good local dealer and have had no issues with the bike or the shop. But........(refer to the post from Mr Hargis)

well Moto you are incorrect.
Shipping is the same for all US dealers except Hawaii and Alaska, I think they pay extra.
We all pay 240.00 to Buell. Even me, and I am only 130 miles from the factory! Believe me, it has nothing to do with volume(or I'd get mine shipped for free)

The set of 3 bags also more than 450.00 dealer cost, quite a bit more.

There will always be someone out there selling them cheaper than I do. Just as there will always be buyers that buy only from the cheapest. I am ok with that.

Without the bags I would be 11888.25 out the door with WI tax(5%) and lic(23.00) reg(45.00)lien fee(4.00) and efile fee(19.50)

I would have to second on Daves. He's a great guy. I flew to WI to pick one up and ride it back to Seattle. He was the only one in the country that had one for sale! Anyhow, you want to buy from someone that is reputable and accessible. Dave, and a lot of other dealers who are not the cheapest are both of these. You want a dealership that will supports you for the long run.

DaveS (and Apppleton HD/Buell) get it. That's why they got my $$. They are the biggest reason I will be at the Homecoming.

Dave,
Since you're the dealer, you would know-all I know is what the local dealer sold me mine for....When you live in Kalifornia, you learn thanks to our DMV, it is best to buy local if possible, cause otherwise they make it into a nightmare. I will be looking out of state for accessories though.....

I hear you Moto, that CA bike thing costs me several bike sales per year.

More than happy to send you your other stuff though!

Dave, I wonder if you could order CA spec bikes?

The guy I got my truck from does a lot of "mail order" business, and did manage to get trucks that had the needed CARB sticker. In that case the truck was the same, just the sticker was unique to CA.

If I am not mistaken to bring a vehicle into California, including bikes, the odometer has to have 7500 miles on it or it cannot be registered here.

That's what's on the books, but only for "non-california" emissions vehicles.
I bought this bike: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/21/191854.html?1145722224
with 850 miles; trucked it back to Torrance. Got it titled with 901 miles; no problem.
(for some reason many vehicles sold in NV are cal emission spec.)
The wost case would be having to get a C.H.P. inspection, which can take more time and trips to DMV.
