Hi guys,

What is the best rear stand to get for the Ulysses?

Recommendations please - I need to pull the rear wheel to get new rubber asap.

Regards,

Jim in Santa Barbara

Thanks, Dave.

Do you use the spools with the XB?

Hey Jim,

I just used a standard motorcycle lift. Jack up the lift to the bottom of the muffler noting the lift points of course, then use tie-straps to secure both sides of the bike to keep it from falling over.
You might need help holding the bike upright to get both straps on but I cheated. I used one strap looped around part of the seat frame with the seat off and it worked fine for me alone.

BTW: I am about to put on the 3rd rear and second front. I have about 5,600 miles on it now. I'm going with Avon Azaro's ST version. They also have a rain version of the Azaro's that looks like will be great for winter/rainy season!
Hopefully these will last longer.

Damn; you must have some really abrasive roads up there. I'm still on my original rear tire at 5400 miles, with a bit of life left. I'll be putting Avon Azaros on before my cross country ride in July.
I hope you get better life with the Avons than you got with the stock Dunlops.

Yeah I'm not a big fan of changing tires as often as I change my oil....

Our roads are quite abrasive but I think my twisty commute through the redwoods may have a little to do with it. Oh and my riding style is also quite spirited.

Hi Steve,

I have a Sears M/C lift - I'm going to make a wooden cradle for added security. That won't take long.

BTW I've got 2700 miles on my rear and it's at the wear bars, I figure maybe it could go 300 miles more but it would be toast by then. No way I can make it to Yosemite and back next weekend, so I'm going to get a new one on there Saturday.

I think I'll do an oil change too just for grins.

See you next weekend.
