New to this forum, seems like a good place. Anyway, I have had my Uly for 1 month now, love the bike but I am looking to make a few minor additions. I was wondering if any one out there has put a throttle lock on? If so, what brand and what are your likes and dislikes with it. I seem to be having trouble finding one that will for sure work. Thanks in advance for the help!

I use the Vista cruise for a Yamaha/Suzuki I think. I have used it for several years now on three different bike and can not remember for sure. It has to be modified to use on the Buell throttle. First, the tabs used to hold it stationery must be trimmed off. Then the a small hole the appropriate size for a tap of I believe a 8-32 machine screw(shortened to about an 1/8th in.) must be drilled into the throttle housing and a corresponding hole in the throttle lock a tad larger so the screw will pass through. Use the screw to self tap into the plastic throttle housing. Then remove the screw and put on a dab of lock tight and reassemble every thing. It's pretty easy and took me about 45min-1hr. If you want I can try to take a picture.

I have a Vista Cruise on my new Uly that I just rode from WI back to Orlando. Best $20 you'll ever spend, period.

Rubbers.

But they are getting pricey.

In the days when I was Buellin' a couple thou a week and before I put the HD throttle lock on the S2, I stopped in the wee hours, bought rubbers (you get a spare and they come in great colors, some glow in the dark) and ripped the end off and fit it between the throttle and the switchgear.

Works perfect.

Easy to override in a hurry.

And....last, but not least. . . RIBBED FOR MY ENJOYMENT!

Good idea Court, I like that better than hair elastics, plus if you get in a pinch you could tie the end off and put them to good use should the opportunity arise!

Another similar option: big rubber o-rings from Home Depot or your friendly local hardware store.

Bar-end weights installed too tight work great too.

So the rubber or elastic functions like the friction screw on an old BMW? That is, it makes the throttle harder to turn in each direction?

Does anyone rig it so they can completely take their hand off the throttle? Or is it just helping keep the throttle open?

I was thinking of a Vista Cruise, having used one on an old Yamaha, but if I can employ something that costs less and is less obtrusive and requires less work! well, that seems like the way to go, at least for a first shot.

Thanks
