Next Thursday a buddy and I are leaving Albuquerque, NM for Orlando, FL for a business trip. Return via GA, NC, TN, AR, OK and hopefully hit lots of great roads on the way home! The GPS says 1732 miles on the outbound leg; 2361 miles on the way home.

This is my first overnight trip on a motorcycle (done lots of bicycle tours, etc.) and I'm really looking forward to it. With about 8,000 miles on my Uly (stock except for Laminar Lip) I think I have the perfect bike for the trip.

Although it may not be that noteworthy for those of you who are experienced tourers, I'm really excited about it; my first big road trip!

Hopefully we'll catch the gap between the spring tornadoes and the summer hurricanes! Here in New Mexico it hasn't even rained since November...

Central Florida hasn't seen much rain this year, either. My yard is beginning to look like a desert.

Sounds like a fun trip. How much time have you allotted?

Dr_greg,

Sounds like a pretty awesome trip. Be sure and take photos and post your journey here and/or at advrider.com.

I've only done a couple of overnighters, but I can't wait to do more. I'll swear, it's just a rush when you leave "home territory" and realize you're on a stretch of road you've never been on before and you don't know what to expect around the next corner. I think that feeling is about the coolest thing about riding on two wheels to me.

Cagers really just don't know what they're missing. Have a great trip.

M/C touring is to me the best way to see the country. I havent taken a cage on vacation in years. YOU will get addicted, and feel the same way.
Good luck and have a great time. If you are lucky, you can stay with some fellow badwebbers, and save a few bucks, and get to know some great folks.
