Thats right my BUTT thinks the stock seat sucks after an hour in the saddle. I do have gel insert laying around that I was going to have installed in my FHLT seat. I'm thinking its going to go into the Uly seat now. |

Chris are you kidding? That's the most comfy seat I've ever had on any motorcycle. I've done 500 mile days on a Sportster (that was enough), 700 mile days on a Buell S2, no telling how many I can get on a Ulysses. 1,000 seems reasonable if the roads are not too technical. I now have the Buell Low seat and it is not as comfy as the stocker which is unfortunate. But it is closer to the surface of the planet which is a good thing. It's still pretty good although I don't think I've done more than 400 or so miles in a day with the Low seat so far. I'm still breaking it in. Best, Jim in Santa Barbara |

No I'm not 250lbs I cant stand to sit on bleachers 15 min before my arse goes numb. Thats the whole thing it gets sore and numb at the 2 hr mark |

I weigh 241.8 lbs (just had my annual physical last night) and I did two 750 mile days on a low seat when I went to Daytona for Bike Week.(Mass to North Carolina on the way down; Daytona to just below Washington, DC on the way home) I have no issues with the comfort of the seat. It'll probably get more comfortable as I lose weight, since my diet started today. What I want to do is put the stock seat back on and do a 1,000 mile weekend to see which seat is better, and what the differences are. The stock seat would have to be pretty fantastic to outweigh the advantage of the low seat's height, though. |

Jim_sb, I am with you. I have had Corbins and custom seats built and none of them compare to the stock seat on the Uly. I rode it to Daytona 1800 miles round trip all together and it was absolutely terrific. I am 6'0" and 200lbs. Everyone is different though. |

Add me to the sore butt club. Before the Uly I had a lightning and the Uly is like a pillow compared to the X1. I went to Ocean City this last weekend - about 180 miles. Going down was no problem. Coming back I had to bail at about the 150 mile point and I was actually in pain. In the preceding 10 miles I tried all sorts of position changes and nothing helped. A five minute stretch, though, and I was good to go for the rest of the trip. I think periodic breaks may be the way to go. |

I'm 225lbs and the stock seat is the best seat I've ever experienced...stock OR aftermarket. It's soft without being too soft, has a nice slope to it, and it's long enough to let me move around. I might have to retire the airhawk. |

My problem with the stock seat was the seams. After about 10 minutes they were digging in and taking away all of the benefits of that thickly padded flat seat. The Buell low seat is much better for me in this regard although it's hotter (thank God for my Special OPS heat barrier) and it puts me in some bad air on the highway. I think the low seat and the tall windshield will put my Uly right where I want it. |

I am 250 or so and I love the stock seat. It also helps to wear clothing that doesnt cause discomfort when in the saddle. |

Someone once mentioned a type of underwear used by bicycle racers as a factor in avoiding discomfort. Anyone have any experience with that? And can I get them at Victoria's Secret with my regular skivvies? Jack |

MCN did an article on 'moisture' wicking briefs etc...(Volume 37 Number 2 Feb 2006) These are the briefs they reviews, most are some combination of Nylon and Spandex and wick moisture. www.exofficio.com (recommended) www.patagonia.com www.wickers.com Target also carries a line that is similar construction with no seams in the rear and much cheaper than the ones above.... I just bought a pair from Target.. should be trying them today for a few hours. Mike |

Underarmour has a long short that works well. check performance bicycle or bike nashbar on the interweb. They sell bicycle shorts at a reasonable price. Bicycle shorts have padding, plus they wick moisture. Dont laugh unless you have tried it. Seams, and wallets are the worst things to have between you and the bike seat. |

The bicycle shorts sound like they're worth a try. The hard part of the transition for some of us will be shifting to tighty whities from boxers. When I went in the Navy they took away my jockey shorts and give me boxers. Set me free and I never looked back, I was an enlightened man! Jack |

I have had Corbin seats on my last three bikes and I find the stock Uly seat better in almost every way. I just returned from a 6 day ride and found that the seat is comfortable, supportive, and allows you to move around a bit as necessary. Butt YMMV, fubar |

I've found that bicycle shorts have too much padding causing some pressure and numbness in certain "areas". So I've switched to shorts similar to the ones reviewed in MCN as mentioned above: http://www.duluthtrading.com/search/searchresults/85338.aspx Works at least as well as my patagonia boxers of similar style, and quite a bit less expensive. I've ridden 600 miles in a day and 1350 miles in three days on the low seat. I too find the seams of the standard seat the only down side. The seat is awesome to me. On the way back from MB3 I rode a tank of gas out non-stop on the freeway, 183.9 miles, a personal best. Even though the M2 which get better gas mileage on the highway than the Uly and has a bigger tank with an effect range of about 200-220 miles, I have only been able to handle about 165 miles on it non-stop and that is with the Corbin seat. To be honest, the seat is not the problem though. The rest of the bike is just not as comfortable as the Uly, so things like legs and arms set the pace when traveling on the M2. |

I've worn bicycle shorts for years under my riding pants. They make a huge difference. I'd suggest trying that before making any changes to the seat. |

No huge "george" wallet. Its just darn hard to me and my tailbonbe area numbs up after about 20 min. I just did a Iron butt two weeks ago on my FLHT DC to Dallas and back again. I'm thinking my rear end hasnt fully recovered. |

I can't say enough good things about synthetic wicking garments. I wear Patagonia boxer briefs and a pair of REI synthetic pants. They don't "stick" to you or chaif you. Makes a big difference. Stay away from denim or cotton. It's the spawn of satan when riding. I haven't tried the bicycle shorts yet. I'll have to stuff a pair of socks down there if I wear them. Synthetic socks of course!! LOL! |
