I have discovered a major design flaw in the windscreen that demands the immediate attention of all buell factory engineers.... I experienced catastrophic windscreen failure over the weekend... I have found the windscreen cannot withstand 65+ mph gusts while traveling in reverse. }} | ||

But, the test riders were having so much fun, giggling and cavorting like cats with a ball or twine, that the global decision was made "spin" this as "feature, not a flaw". Disney will, in late 2007, be introducing a ride whereon folks will mount a Uly, be rocketed along a 148' double rail stainless steel track. Upon reaching a velocity of approximately 88MPH, the track goes vertical for 230'. When the Uly reaches the peak, it executes (this is all programmed by something they call animatronics) a maneuver much line an Immelman and rockets toward the earth. As it passes through elevation 122, the windscreen detaches, flitters to the ground like a falling leaf to the amazement of Honda riders waiting in line. The moment the windscreen hits a team of Buell rapid response customer satisfaction folks, races to the Uly, now arriving at it's station, and instantly reattaching it, while a pseudo umbrella girl hands the rider a certificate guaranteeing rapid P&A parts availability. Yeah...it's all part of a plan that's bigger than all of us. See you there.... well buell should have taken into account the wind stress exerted on a uly loaded backwards into an F350....and to amend my first post.. i think i was exceeding speeds of 80mph... I was running late... | ||

Actually it is a very trick feature designed to add extra drama to an old trick. I discover that while doing high speed J-turns, "Rockfords" if you like, the windscreen pops off at the exact moment I pivot from reverse to forward. If I get the wheelie angle right I believe I can catch the windscreen back in it's mounts which will hopefully score some points with the Stunta Boyz. I will post a video as soon as I get it nailed. | ||

Ahhhhhh. . . you my friend are unfamiliar with my keenly honed ability to get in deep doo and emerge smelling rose like. To get the true effect you'd have to have been there when I ejected the IBM 365 ThinkPad from the S-2 on the Blue Ridge Highway (Orange, VA to Marietta, GA) at 3:45AM. Anyway....I am cruising along on a spur of the moment gorilla marketing mission to Ft. Worth. Got the call at 8:00pm, left Topeka shortly thereafter...cold weather...very cold. In the wee hours, I'm a couple hours South of OKC, on the edge of the Ardmore Mountains. (Laugh not, OK has some gorgeous terrain) I am thanking the Lord for the pleasure of being here and for getting paid to ride motorcycles.....I look up to see a spectacular starlit night cluttered by absolutely ZERO ambient light. Having the finely honed skills required to ride I-35 along a straight as a string stretch, I keep trying to see how much further I could tilt my head back, thus ever expanding the made to order "planitarium in a helmet" I was viewing. At this point....I, intent on having nothing stand between me and the majesty the Lord hath wrought, decided to do the same trick with the visor lifted. Author's Note: for those of you unfamiliar with the ADSIS visor system, one of it's attributes is that it "snaps" in with no attachment points of tools Anyway. . . about the 3rd iteration of cycle mounted Earth worship. . . SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP and my face is blasted with a dose of frigid air. In a nanosecond I knew that getting ad ADSIS visor in OK was darn near impossible, more so where I was in the wee hours. Heck, gas was tough to find. I immediately, having learned from my last to "lost at speed" incidents, See "Computer in VA - Toll ticket NY Thruway which got a tad uglier with the hyperspeed charge the wrong way into traffic...until I moved to the center of the grass median to continue my journey) stabbed the rear brake, executed a 180o and lit the burners.... There, as I have come to expect, smack dab in the middle of the road, was the reflection. The visor was undamaged, fit right back on, and as the Texas sun rose the following morning I was pulling into Ft. Worth to meet Scott Miller and Gary Cravillion. I am a victim of this sport.  Court P.S. - Don't let me forget to tell you about the next day, in 19oF weather when I lost (no it was NOT a stock part) a shock bracket and folded up an S-3 in rush hour traffic at 85MPH...remind me to tell you....yes, I have photos. | ||

well cjxb.. it comes down to a logistical conundrum.... one person two vehicles had to have both in same place at same time... i am still working on a hitch and tow bar system that will allow me to pull the F350 behind the uly... i thin J.C. Whitney has one on sale.... | ||
