Somewhere here on badweb I seen a photo of a broken one. It appeared to fail in the same way mine did.

The Bad Weather Bikers' Buell Motorcycle Enthusiasts' Discussion Forum » Big, Bad & Dirty (BadWeB Adventure Board) » Archive through March 03, 2006 » Broken saddlebag latch

At the beginning of this thread there are 2 different latches that have broken in pretty much the same place.

If your bags are under warranty, Buell will take care of the latch. Even if not, I'd ask since the problem has been noted and addressed by Buell P&A. Never hurts to ask before having to spend money!

well mine broke with the bags empty... its a cheap plastic latch...buell knows it and they they say are beefing it up.... i just replaced mine today .. took about 5 min.... it is what it is ...i think they are all breaking in the same place... its all good if buell keeps sending new latches... im sure hb is working on a fix too...

Them bags look like the ones on my brother's 950 adventure. We haven't tried to see if our bags interchange with one another yet. It looks like the racks are slightly different sizes. His bags definetly look more sturdy but they are a bit utilitarian. (I don't know if that is a word)?

They do take a hit pretty good. I dumped the bike doing about 40mph. It cracked the outer shell of one bag. Slapped some JB Weld on it and put a sticker over it, good as new!

These are the same bags that come on the KTM 950 Adventure. They are a bit utilitarian looking, they are, but I think the Buell clamshell style bags would have busted into a million pieces in the wreck. Also, they've got metal latches, sit flat on the ground when you take em off and you can close and latch them without locking them.

Cheers
Brett

I believe they are also double walled. There is a kit to install a tap on them to carry water in the dead area between the two walls.

Great bags for dry camping.

BTW, Soloyosh, the trunk dosen't match the bags.....maybe you should get a gray milk crate instead.thumbsup

My brother and I swaped sidebags this weekend.
His bags fit tightly on my racks.: )
My bags fit on his 950 racks but thay are a little loose and shake around a bit.: (
I'd love to find some KTM bags slightly damaged and cheap. They would be great for a trip into the desert for a dry camping trip.
They are definetly sturdy.
Plus they could hold water in the dead space.

Yep all the H&B bags should fit the Buell racks. The passenger pegs will not fold up with the Gobis on. I haven't confirmed if the H7B aluminum bags will fit yet.

Chris - we got our liners from www.eurotechmotorsports.com, they are based out of CA and were very helpful. They also carry other parts/accessories for the bags once they are out of warranty.
