I have followed the various posts here for awhile and deceided to get a taller Buell screen, until I went to my dealer who told me that the part number has been changed and that meant a "revision" to the part. Now I am back to looking at cee bailey stuff. All I want to do is get the wind up (its in my chest) so I dont have the whistle in my full face helmet. I dont want a tall screen (if i wanted a bagger I would have bought one) so i'm leaning towards a cee bailey 2.5" (i'm 6'1"). Any thoughts ?

Me too, it seems the jury's out on what works, I'm interested in the 21" Cee-Bailey but neither they or Dave seem to be able to give me a shipping cost to Oz!

I keep hearing nothing but good stuff about the Laminar Lip as an option.

I have the CB +2.5 screen and love it. It moves the wind blast from mid-stomach to just below my armpits. Honestly, for me, anything else would be overkill.

I have the Cee Bailey 4-inch original.

The first one blew off in my face, they sent me a new one that has a little rubber bumper on the inside of the screen that sits against the fairing.

Had it as fast if not faster than the one that blew off with wind gusts and it stayed on just fine.

Maybe DaveS can give us an update on this revision. I hope it doesn't delay it much further. I have a Buell +4 on order from him.

I have the Laminarlip and like it alot. It gets the wind up to the chin bar on my full face helmet. Works good on the intestate. It does create a bit more noise but on long rides I usually wear ear plugs anyway.

I just ordered the CB 2.5. I hope this works. I am 6'-4" and wear an open face. I like the wind but when I crank on it it lifts the helmet, gaaaaag. So I am hoping I can get the wind up and over a bit

At that height the 2.5 won't lift the wind over your helmet. You going to have to have a barn door to force the wind over your helmet. May I ask, why open face?

Thanks for asking the obvious as I too am curious about the draw of the open face option... Then again, my only experience with an open face skid lid was when I rented a V-Rod in Hawaii and all they had was a "half" helmet. Ah, the memories!

Mostly memories of my wife's raucous laughter ever time we passed a semi going the opposite direction and it just about yanked my head right off my shoulders like some kind of sick parachute!!!

Memories that last a lifetime, that's what riding is all about!

I dunno, I just dont like being all closed in. I realize the safety issues etc...I also came off a heritage softail. It did have a barn door. But I rode with the shield off that alot too. I preferred the sound of it and the feel of it. I tried my MX helmet. Bit of a compromise to the full face but that was worse.

Pesospal,

The CeeB will get the wind blast up to your collar bones. Your head will be in clean air but you will get the full monte. It's not designed to get the wind over your head. It does however take all the wind blast off your torso so it's much more relaxing to cruise at higher speeds.
I have one and it works great.

So, how high should the windblast be, or where is
the best place for it to get the best protection without buffeting? I am going to start sawing down my CB +16 because right now it sounds like an earthquake starting at about 65MPH. I'm thinking somewhere between the collarbones and the chin.

Java,
I had to cut my 16" down to 10" to work.

You going to have to have a barn door to force the wind over your helmet.

Like this.

I just got back from a 300+ mile freeway drone on the Uly ( I rode to a friend's funeral today). The ride helped me process a lot of stuff. At times I think I can put up with the stock shield but my red eyes and sore neck say otherwise tonight. I'm getting a lot of wind blowing up under my Scorpian EXO 700 full face. Again, I'm 5'9" with the low buell seat. When you talk about the wind blast moving up to your upper chest with the +2.5 CB, Is there any wind blowing under your chin bar of your helmet? I guess I'm asking for clean air around my helmet but will I still be straining my neck at freeway speeds? Its been a long time since I've ridden with a windshield this small. My Electraglide really spoiled me.

Sorry to hear about your friend. Riding does help clear one's mind.

There is still some wind with the +2.5". But I'm not really noticing it as bothersome until about 80. I'm not sure about the +4, but I'm VERY happy with the +2.5.

If you're coming from a Dresser, you're going to notice the wind a lot more than if you're coming from a bike without a windshield.
There's a product called a NoJ that fits around the bottom of a full face helmet that stops the wind and cuts down on a lot of the wind noise.
Your neck muscles will get stronger from riding at freeway speeds. After a few rides, you won't even notice the wind.
I'm 5'8" and I'm happy with the stock windscreen.

Thanks Stevenknapp and crusty. I looked up the NOJ quiet helmet thingy. It looks like that might help alot with the cold morning commutes also. Your right about the neck muscles getting stronger. I was'nt nearly as sore after this trip as I was on the same distance trip the weekend before. I also had my koss earplugs and some tunes on this trip which made it more enjoyable.

I've got the +2.5" Cee Baileys and I love it!!! One thing I have to say that hasn't been mentioned yet is, the original shield and the Cee Baileys versions that plug into the original mounting holes are sort of like a laminar lip. That is, they not only deflect the wind, but allow some to pass under the windshield to rid of any vacuum/buffeting issues. So, I don't think getting the larger Cee Baileys (that come with a whole new "number" plate) and cutting it down is any where near the same thing. I hope this makes sense.

Man! You guys with these silly looking 2 foot tall windows ought get a car! Maybe a convertible, then at least you'd have a place to hold your drink.

I do work out every morning, and that helps, no more sore neck problems.

I just did 600 miles around the eastern part of our state, and was doing well over 100 most of the time with the stock screen.

Great pics Dave!

I'd post some pics of the roads around here in Illinois, but I wouldn't want to make you Utah guys too jealous...
