From what I understand, anonymous posters are folks who have inside information of some sort and don't wish to be known.

I like that they can post here and enlighten us without risking their jobs.

Anony has mentioned the Syncs more than once now. I will be swapping mine Dunflops for Pirellis.

OK, but is an anon poster guaranteed to be a Buell employee? I don't think so. Looks like anyone can do it. - Steve

"but is an anon poster guaranteed to be a Buell employee"

No. But they have to have a defensible reason for posting anon in order to stay anon. An uncle working at a tire retailer would probably not be sufficient to remain anonymous. A distributor to Buell might be.

Well I hope Anon is right, I just ordered both tires to be replaced on my Uly with the Syncs and a new front rim.

Thats why I was wondering if there was a good knobbie for the front. I'll have a spare rim.

Well, I will give them the synchs a try when I am ready for new shoes. I am one of the few riders that are getting pretty good tire life out of the 616. I weigh a wopping 165 soaking wet, so 3800 miles and they still look good, and I have been riding the shit out of them on and off road. I had the same good luck with GP tires on my race bikes, has something to do with smooth throttle transitions i hear? if the Perelli's will help in the handling dept. I'm all for it.

I too put the maiden ride on the Syncs today, 214 miles on two lane twisty stuff. The front is much more precise and solid without the little wander/vagueness. The ULY turned in quicker and felt lighter in the front. The rear was fine, could not really tell any diff. from the 616s. The Syncs really are the ticket, maybe not the best but much better than the Dunlops.

I Sync'ed up this weekend. I didn't have a problem with the Dunlops, but I wanted to see if I would be able to tell a difference and perhaps score some bonus tread-life. I have to say that on a 200-miler I did yesterday, these Pirellis behaved quite differently than the Dunlops. I can't put my finger on it exactly, but the bike seems to handle better than it ever has. I don't know how much of this is the 'new-tire-honeymoon,' but I can say that these tires seem to have transformed the bike.

Where the bike was a bit squishy before (lacking a point of reference, I took that squishiness for granted), it is definitely born again hard. While I swapped primarily to see if I could get more tread-life, I would recommend the Syncs for anyone wanting more stickiness in the corners on the Uly.

The headshake on decel with the bags attached appears to have gone away after switching to the Syncs.....

Any comparison yet on the Syncs vs 616's on gravel or dirt "jeep" trails? Same? Better? Worse?

I'll be checking out dirt roads in the next few days or so. I suspect little difference since the tread-patterns are so similar and since they are both basically street tires.

From what little I've ridden on them, they seem about the same on gravel roads.

Lowflyer,
Anytime brand new tires are mounted they seem to work better just like those new tennis shoes when we were kids. I'd wager that if you had put back on brand new Buell OEM tires they would seem way better than the worn out OEM tires.

From my earlier post:

"I don't know how much of this is the 'new-tire-honeymoon,' but I can say that these tires seem to have transformed the bike."

I have only been riding this bike for about 6 mos. so the new feeling of the Dunlops is not lost on me completely. The tires never gave me a problem, but with these different tires, the bike feels better than it did when it was brand new.

I just got back from a short ride through some dirt/muddy roads. I think the Syncs handle no better or worse than the Dunlops.
