I was at the Buell dealer getting my bike serviced for my trip to Tuscon this week, and decided to order a race kit. When the parts manager looked the kit up, he said I was just in time, the kit is being discontinued as of May 31st. I should have mine on by Wednesday before the trip. I just wanted to give you all a heads up, if you are thinking about it, better act soon. |

That doesn't surprise me since I recently heard the news that HD was doing the same to all the Screamin' Eagle stuff. The EPA is really going to start putting the pressure on. By the way Roy, I am moving down to Tulsa from KC in May. We will have to hook up for a ride. Drake |

It's true. I have some on order if anyone wants one before they are gone. I'm off on a bike trade mission today but will be back at work tomorrow. |

Speaking of the race kit, what ever happened to that exhaust/ECU tuning shoot-out that was discussed a couple months ago? I'm hoping that I won't need the race kit. |

I'm guessing the DirectLink folks are dancing and singing right along with all the aftermarket muffler guys. It's indeed a sad day....before you know it, we'll all be riding electric bikes. |

Drake, Congratulations on your move to Oklahoma. I promise, we will have all the fires out before you get here. You will probably like Tulsa, it is a lot like K.C., only 1/3 the size. Plus, we are not far from the Ozarks, and the great roads they offer for riding. My e-mail is roy@insuranceoklahoma.com, contact me when you get in and we'll go ride! Roy |

Has anyone tried just putting the ECU on without the muffler and air filter mod? Will it just richen it up a bit or is it a radical change? Smoother slow speed running would be great (as reported with the new pipe, ecu and air cleaner) but not if it means blowing smoke at high RPM because you are not pushing enough air through the system. Anyone have an idea? Mike |

Can't do it as the Race ECM has no connection for the exhaust valve servo. You will, at least, have to replace the muffler and remove the servo motor assembly along with replacing the ECM. (Message edited by aeholton on March 23, 2006) |

You could disconnect the exhaust servo cable and secure it in the open position. I don't know how the bike would run thought. The Race muffler is dual outlet, so I'm sure it flows a lot more. My first impression of the race muffler was that it was very loud, but the funny thing is, when you're not on the bike, it's pretty quiet. My wife doesn't even hear me pull in the driveway. Go figure? |

I think that you could ask Al Lighton to retune your stock ecm (by reprogramming via the DirectLink software) to suit a stock Uly, to get a smoother low-end. I know it will work. Then you can keep the standard exhaust, servo motor etc. |

It's not loud OFF the bike. While you are riding, there is a dramatic increase in noise. Sort of the best of both worlds. Sounds good to the rider, but the neighbors can't hear it. |

My girlfriend says my Uly sounds like a truck compared to the guys I ride with but it only gets LOUD when you give it a wrist full! |
