so i sez to myself i sez, self, why dont you go riding this fine morning in the sleet and snow. great idea i tell myself, ill head up to the meeting and ill be back before the badweather starts.

to make a long story short, the fat purple one dumps the uly on the left side and snaps off the shift lever leaving it in 1st the entire trip home. luckily, it was bad enough out that i really didnt need anything past 1st gear anyways.

the shifter pivot bolt and the long skinny thing connecting the shift lever to the watchamacallit broke. oh well, cheap fix for being a fool. it was nice out though, 36 and after the sleet and ice had stopped, it wasnt that bad.

anyone with a service manual care to tell me what 2 parts those are? hint hint. thanks

chris <----the not so smart one. : (

Chris, here I thought you were starting a new tread on the poor night lighting on the Uly. Now I find that you are talking about a different light bulb! Well anyway, I feel sorry for you so before I take off on a ride on my Uly, I looked up the parts for you.
Flange head bolt CA0015.02A8
Linkage assembly N0320.1AK
Let me know if these are not the parts you are talking about or if there are additional parts needed. Sorry but the scanner is down.

thanks for the tourtech info. the first thing i did when i got back to the house that fateful day, was order a tourtech shifter and rear brake lever.

3 finger brake and clutch levers soon to follow. : )

I have the bar bag on the way from Touratech. I want the rack system , but I'm torn between them and Happy-Trails.

I've had Touratech panniers on previous bikes. They are very well made pieces of kit but I do have some advice if you buy them Lowflyer. Lacquer the insides before you use them or else everything you put in will come out covered in aluminium oxide. Also don't bother with the Touratech integral locks, they get full up with crud and you could probably open them with a plastic nail file anyway. A cheap set of keyed alike padlocks are a better bet. I don't know anything about Happy Trails as I've never seen any this side of the pond.

Thanks for the info. I never really considered these utilitarian bags before, but I figure they will be easier for me to store when not in use and I'll never have to worry about the bike falling over on them. Whichever brand I get will be powdercoated on the inside to prevent the black stains.

Have you considered the gobi bags from Hepco becker? The work with the stock uly racks, and have the ability to carry water between the inner and outer liners.
Or you can cut out the inner liner and make a bigger bag.

Yeah, they are way uglier to me than just plain aluminum. That is a neat idea if you need to store water.

the bolt, shifter assembly and i decided to buy another plate thingy that the shifter bolts to, were picked up from the local shop yesterday. i stopped to grab a thing of blue loctite on the way home. looking for a wrench and allen key set, too longer than replacing the broken stuff.

i am amazed at how easy the process was.

btw, i love metrinch tools, too bad were getting 5-8 inched of snow tonight. : (

Can you clarify? I just spoke with Touratech today and they assured me that they have none of the parts--and have yet to have any of the parts--listed as "availabe for preorder" which includes the the new shifter, brake pedal and foot pegs.

Maybe you just got a bag or something?
