MH and HH-60Gs were my bag in the AF. I spent the latter part of the first GW 50' above the terrain in Saudi and Kuwait pointing miniguns at anyone with a beard or a towel on their person. I was a CSAR/AFSOC Flight Engineer who traded the AF for Army wings. I had flown in OH-58s on a couple of joint play sessions and decided that was for me. I got shot down for eyesight at Rucker three days before my WOCS class was to start. I spent a month there in limbo trying to get a waiver for 20/30. In the end, they refused to accept my left nut in exchange for the waiver and offered me several other MOSes, but I opted out. I couldn't go back and face my buddies in the AF without my wings, so I went to college instead. I've been out of helicopters for 8 years now, but I am an instrument pilot with an MBA and fly for fun and boss people around for work. So, yeah, I understand your description.
