Court -- Carlos' seal is not out, but you can see where it wants to come loose from the bag. Can you also send us your "how, why and how to fix it" as well? suareznc5@earthlink.net

Thanks in advance.

Hmm, the weatherstripping on my left case began falling out a few weeks ago. I didn't think anything about it---since I'm still so darn happy with the bike (got it 9/30/05)---and "glued" it back in with some silicone goop. No big deal...

Should I have taken this weatherstripping thing more seriously? It's not the kind of thing I would trouble the factory about...

Court,
Got the new latch this morning.
Not enough can be said about Court and Daves, and there help with issues like these. Thanks!!!!!

Without Court and Daves I would not have seen these for 2 months with my dealer.
When I get back from Daytona I have to bring in my bike to get the muffler replaced and I am going to bring in the broken latch to my dealer and see what happens. First thing is I did not buy the bags from my dealer. This will be the first question they will ask me. They will than proceed to tell me there is nothing they can do for me and that I should call the shop I got them from. Then they will walk away.

Buy the way can anybody give me the scoop on the warranty for the accessories and clothing we buy from any dealer. My dealer will not talk to you about anything that was not purchased in there store.

RANT ON:

Some of you may have seen the pictures of my rusted muffler that I posted a few months ago.

It took my dealer close to 7 weeks from the day I showed it to them until they received the parts to replace it. I called them after the first 2 weeks and they had not even made a call to Buell to see if it would be warranted. After I asked when they were going to call they said they would get to it that day. A few days later I get a call that I will have to bring my bike back in to the dealer 2 weeks later to have the local service rep. look at the muffler. They could not make the decision if it would be covered. The service rep. gave the OK to warranty the muffler. When the dealer called to tell me I reminded them that they should not forget to order the new clamps for the muffler. They said that only the torca clamp was required to be replaced. I said would he please check that out again with the tech. and his response was I do not need to check it again. Well I got out my Shop Manual and faxed him a copy of the pages and highlighting to areas calling for the replacement of the front strap clamp. This is the C__p I can not put up with.

Mike:

All things considered, I'd prefer you not make much of an issue regarding my involvement with the dealer.

My metric is RESULTS.

My life gets complicated when I am put in a position of possibly making a dealer look like they performed poorly.

The dealerships can do everything I do, but like Dorothy in Oz, they simply don't know they hold the power. That's being fixed.

My goal is ALWAYS to move the resolution of the situation to "normal channels" as quickly as possible and to do everything within my power to have the dealer "deliver" the solution. It's best for everybody. I actually have a pretty detailed model I follow.

In your case, late Monday night with a Wednesday departure, getting those results dictated precisely what I did. It'd made little sense to have "played by the rules" and have your latch arrive days after you departed.

You get a chance sometime, be sure to drop Buell a note and say "Thank you" for responding to customer concerns faster than any motorcycle company in the world.

Money won't buy the level of service Buell owners get. . . only passion can produce it.

I'll do something on the Ulysses bag seals here in the coming days. To those of you with concerns, be just a bit patient. It's important that the medicine be better than the malady. Smart folks are are work.

Hello Court,

What's this "metric" stuff? Haven't you heard? We're still on the SAE system....

Jim,

Haven't you heard of TQM? It's all about the metrics.

That'd be 2.54cm, you guys are gonna love it! We converted in 1970 and I still convert back to Imperial for everything except temperature.

Court,
I hope you did not take that post wrong. Your name will not come up in my conversations with any dealer. Actually I was not even going to say that I had resolved the issue. I fully appreciate all that was done to resolve this issue in the short time frame we were in.

You get a chance sometime, be sure to drop Buell a note and say "Thank you" for responding to customer concerns faster than any motorcycle company in the world.

You bet I will.

The point of my Rant was to show how good we have it here on this board with people like you, Daves and all the other sponsors that support this site. Without it I would not have bought another Buell.
