I'm still a Uly fan, but feel it might not have been the right bike for me. I just bought a black (Yes, black. Lucifer (?!) orange isn't available this year.) '06 Tiger 955i. About 11.5K OTD with three hard cases, hot grips, centerstand (!), and 6% sales tax.

So can I still ride with you guys? Huh? Can I? Puhleeeeeze?

Sure...if you can keep up.

Congrats on the new bike.

I like the Tiger but think the new model presumably with the 1050 engine would be harder to beat. Enjoy!

Doesn't the 06 Tiger have cast wheels? Hasn't it evolved to more of a street riding bike; sharper steering geometry, a shorter wheelbase, and stiffer suspension with reduced fork travel?

I'm just curious what attracted you more toward the Tiger?

I considered the Tiger before buying the Uly, and felt they were similar in their application. I think ultimately, the low maintenance and cool factor drew me to the Uly

Congrats on the Tiger - it is a nice bike.

Cheers
-Jack

Yes. Well. Mostly.

It has cast wheels and tubeless tires: 150R and 110F. I understand that the front dives less under hard braking, so the front, at least, has probably been stiffened some, though it still has the same travel. I don't think the steering geometry or the wheelbase has changed (it's something like 6 inches longer than the Uly), but whispered words are that both of those are in the works for a completely new '07. They're (whoever 'they' are) saying it'll be more super-moto. Looks like they like the Uly, too!

The low maintenance very nearly sold me on the Uly, but my limited Buell experiences haven't been very positive. The longer wheelbase of the Tiger, together with very sweet powerband modulation, and the fact that I could get it with all the do-dads for the price of the Uly alone, were the major selling factors.

I'll have to wait at least until my son-in-law comes to get his Ninja out of my garage before I can bring it home. He just returned from his second Baghdad tour, and will be bringing the family up late next week.

I used to do a lot of fire-roading in your area back in the seventies. If I were closer to you, I'd be planning a trip to Lake Arrowhead. Have fun on your Uly, as well.

Congrats Steve! Where is the pictures of the new ride. ANd hell yeah ... I rode w/Buellers from KC and SLAB on my Tiger. I really dig the new Tiger and I understand Triumph will totally overhaul the Tiger for '07.

Those new Tiger wheels are nice. I bet there is a crowd bitchin' about 'em though.
