I'm considering doing some modification to my Uly. From all the posts I've read, it looks like the Drummer is an excellent choice. I probably won't have enough money to do the race ECM and Drummer at the same time. Do I need to have the race ECM in order to go with the Drummer? Will better flow cause a lean condition or will the stock ECM compensate? If modifications had to be done in stages (due to budget) where would you start and in what order assuming you could only spend $400-500 every other month or so?

Aeholton...

I just installed an Econo Drummer and an Open Air Box Conversion Kit with a K&N filter, and a K&N crankcase filter from American Sportbike on my Uly.

BIG DIFFERENCE!

The sound is great, not too loud (I know this is subjective), low speed drive ability is better, and acceleration/torque feels better. I have not put the Uly on a dyno yet, but the bike wheelies without any clutch in 2nd very easily.

Pics to come...

What is the Econo Drummer? Is that the one that still uses the exhaust valve? Does it have the fatlet?

As for wheelies, I find that mine will easily wheelie in 2nd without clutch in stock configuration.

I ve got the regular drummer on mine, its great, just bolt it back on no ecm or filter or other moods required. It runs better and the fan comes on less, and it sounds incredible. It cost me $450 with my old one as a trede in, well worth it.

And no the econo doesnt have the fatlet only the original drummer does, and it doesnt use the interactive exhaust, which i like alot.

Aeholton - There are 3 Drummers for the XB12s.

Econo - made from stock muffler, low price, uses valve, louder than stock, modest gains in power.

Standard - made from stock muffler, mid price, valve discarded, louder than stock, excellent gains in power throughout the RPM range, especially down low.

Drummer SS - Made from scratch, CNC'd billet aluminum end caps and stainless steel shell., higher price, no valve, slightly louder than standard Drummer, the highest gains in power throughout the RPM range for a slip on.

All three will run without the Race ECM, but the standard and SS run much better with the race ECM, and K&N filter.

Go to www.kdfab.com for more info.

I received my Drummer (original) a few weeks ago, but due to hand surgery was not able to ride. Got out for about 3 hours yesterday and was very inpressed with the Drummer. I have no other mods, and this Uly runs great and very strong. I'm 6'1" and 215 lbs and personally do not find a need for more power. This pipe rocks !
