I saw this on the Adv Rider forum.
http://www.buell.com/en_us/promos/ha...sp?subID=63178
It's for a free Buell cap. It's from the Buell site. Get the coupon and take it to a participating dealer for your cap. I just got back from Ukes HD in Kenosha Wis with mine. Best thing about it is that it's Black, just like my Uly.

I got the coupon after a bit. The key was to re-verify my email address.

Reminds me of the southpark "Free Hat" bit. : )

That pisses me off, I busted my arse to buy a Uly when they first hit with no freebies in sight, then they give stuff away to get anyone to walk into a dealership!

Just wait 'til I trade, actually it will be hard on them as I can't imagine wanting to sell except on the next model Uly!

I just got back from TSI in Ellington, CT. They've got the hats available. I think I got the first one. It's pretty neat. The thing I like is the tag on the hat that says; "Demo ride a Buell motorcycle at participating dealerships between April 15 and June 30, 2006. You'll pick up a free sling bag and experience what riding a Buell is all about."
It's nearly 100 miles from my house to TSI on some really nice twisty roads, so I managed to get to the magical 500 mile mark on my break in.
Also, the folks at TSI were noticeably pro Buell. They were asking me how I like my Uly, and invited me to join their BRAG chapter, and urged me to return for some of their special events.
All in all, a good ride on a good day (for February) to a good shop.

When I first walked in the door, the place was busy. Two salesmen were talking to customers, a family was looking at clothes and trying to keep their toddler from pulling everything off a shelf, a couple of other customers were just standing in the doorway shooting the bull; no employees seemed unoccupied. The shop wasn't crazy, but it was busy.
I had time to notice that the Buells were displayed right by the front door, and that they had a black Uly with the bags installed as well as a Lightning Long right up front.
I waited a couple of minutes, then asked the guy at the Motorclothes cash register who I should see about the free Buell hat. He called a salesman over who looked at my form
then scrambled to find where the sales manager had stashed the hats. While he was busy, another employee came over and started asking me how I liked my Uly, and if I preferred the low seat. When the salesman returned, another employee was with him, and they invited me to join their Brag group, and talked it up a little. I told them I lived 100 miles away, and they replied that I was still welcome to join in and that they would be sending me information on events. They were very friendly and genuinely seemed to want me as a customer. They are a small shop, but they have a very positive attitude.

So, I go to a local dealer. Not MY dealer, but a local Buell dealer. I have the form all filled out in-hand. I ask a salesman if they have these. He tells me he doesn't know and that I should check with the cashier...a chick. Yeah, right. Like a , I do, she knows nothing, no surprise there.

I go back and ask another salesman. He knows nothing, but atleast offers to go check it out with their sales manager. Salesman asks me if I have the form. I show him, sales manager rolls his eyes and pulls the hat out of his drawer and tosses it in disgust.

I ask salesman if he needs filled out form. He says, whatever, I take it and the hat home with me. What a dickhead!

The first person I talked to at one of the Participating Buell dealers said they had no clue, but pointed me to sales. They sales guy was like, oh you already have the form, sweet. Let me grab you a hat. Asked me if I wanted any literature on the Buells, or if I had an questions. I just asked if they had any shirts, etc... Nothing interesting just a sweatshirt.

Guess I got lucky...

Went to my local shop, asked the receptionist about it. She pointed me to "motorclothes" who pointed me to sales. The sales guy gave me a hat, shot the breeze with me for a few minutes, and we talked about the XBRR they have on order. The owner and one of the sales guys have their racing license and the dealership is ordering a bike to race.

They had two Ulys in stock (a black and an orange), a 12Ss, a couple of 12R and S models as well as a City X.

I didn't buy my bike from them because they didn't have one, but I'm pretty impressed with them. Seems to be a good dealer compared to the stories I've heard about other shops.

I had nearly the same experience here...

Went into the dealership here and tracked down a salesman, I showed him the copy from the net (had it all filled out), he looked it over and said he knew nothin about it, told me to "go over to the girl who's answerin the phones and ask her", then he sat down on one of those FXDRMNOPQZ WideFatBadBobGlide things.

Took it to the girl, who looked it over, then she asked another salesman if he knew anything about it. He did'nt, he showed the paper to another guy who went into an office, picked the hat up from a stack that could be seen through the window from anywhere in the showroom, gave it back to the 2nd sales guy who gave it to me.

I said thanks very much, he said "uh huh." I asked if they had given many away yet, and he said "I dunno!" as he walked away.

Man these guys are GREAT!

Got my hat from the Buell salesman before the Brag meeting. Got a tee shirt from the Buell staff at the Cleveland IMS show. "Piece of cake!"
It helps to 1) network and build relationships, 2) having good luck, 3) finding favor with the Buell god!
PS: 4) owning an ORANGE Uly! (I know you missed me Bindy and Snub! )

I think he was explaining why the black plane was so drab and had such lackluster performance.

No Snub, I do not have to explain that to RC modelers. Anyone who's been in the hobby for awhile knows that black is the last color you would use. Actually orange and yellow are very popular colors! Has to do with the facts of a plane sitting in the hot sun at the field, and you need to tell what you are looking at when the plane is in the air and moving though different angles.
PS: how did you know that the orange planes are the fastest! I have been known to tune some real hot rods!

What planes do you have?

I've got a few electric parkflyers. Been tempted by a heli, but I'm just not that good. : )

Steven, I have been in the hobby about fifteen years now and rarely crash anymore. It might be easier to answer the question, "which planes don't you own?" Aerobatic planes such as Extra, Giles, and Caps. War birds such as Mustang, and Zeros. Small glow and electric to large gas. BTW, helis = $$$$ but are very challenging and rewarding. I have a few crashed ones to prove I have not master them yet!

Court -

Seems like you were interested in dealer performance so I'll share my experience real quick. My dealer has one of every model Buell right by the door. Not every color, but at least an example of every model, which I thought was great. I sat on a Uly, my wife tried the CG. I chatted with the salesman who was standing by the bikes reading the morning paper. Mentioned how cool the Lightnings looked with Line-X. He didn't have the faintest idea what I was talking about, so I went to the counter to get the hats. Guy told me he thought that promotion was over. (this is Feb 3rd). I said, well,it just started on the 1st and goes through April 15th - He says well I think we are out but I can check. I say "I'm hoping you haven't run out already!" (Its 35 degrees outside) The store is empty.

He goes back into an office to talk to the store manager, who pulls one from somewhere, asks if the form is filled out and hands it over. Not mean, not nice, just an exchange of goods.

You'd think that in a retail environment you'd have a sales meeting everyday before the shop opens and review things, especially new promotions. "Guys - we started a Buell hat promotion today. Anybody that walks through the door looking for one this soon after it started must be a Buell nut-job. He is our prime target. Show him the shirts while he is here mooching our swag. Ask him if he needs a few spare oil filters to have on hand. Sell him some Loc-tite, anything! These guys are our bread and butter right now, and they're here in the dead of winter for a hat - treat em right and sell something for the brand. They'll wear it!"

But nah - none of that was in evidence -

Went to Dale's in Mt Vernon, IL. Front desk ladies directed me to the parts dept with a smile. Parts got me a cap in 15 sec flat, very courteous and professional.

Incidently, for those looking, they have a shipment of ULYs that just came in...

Dale's always treated me good as well. They had a tire sale one year and helped me strap some extra tires around me for a 50 mile trip home on a bike.
