I was already sold on the sound and performance of the Special OPS pipe but I wanted something that would compliment the design theme of the Uly. I asked Odie if he could come up with a pipe that incorporated the look of the heat shield on the stock outlet. Odie was absolutely great to work with as we tried a few prototypes until we found something that we both thought worked. I had read that Odie was customer oriented but he exceeded my expectations every step of the way. I’m really happy with the result. This thing rocks!

Any input on performance compared to a Drummer SS?

What does it sound like?

And finally, how much extra will that model (the tailgunner) cost in addition to their models now?

Thanks

That looks great. Is the drilled outlet pipe just a sleeve over a solid outlet pipe, or is there only one pipe that is drilled through?

Curious about the sound too. Looks good.

Clayman: I'm planning to run Odie's pipe with the stock ECM and stock air filter for now. Odie has some data with that configuration over quite a bit of time without any indication of a lean condition. I like this design because it still uses the interactive exhaust valve. Yes that is the low seat.

De50Man: It sounds fantastic. It's not obnoxious at all. I love it. Odie has a sound clip that he can send you. It's best to ask Odie about pricing.

Speeedstar: It's a sleeve over a solid pipe.

Odie,

Thanks for the advice and the clip.

A friend of mine talked me into looking at the XB12X. Of course I was hooked right away. Her boyfriend is the parts dept manager, so I'm not sure swapping pipes will work for me, damn it. BTW, the clip sounded awesome!

Funny you mentioned SM HD/Buell, I just moved back down here, Ft. Lauderdale from Atlanta. The riding up there was awesome, even on my Heritage! I can only imagine those North Georgia Mountains on the Uly.

Yes. This was the prototype but he's ready to go with this as an option for his pipes.

Take-offs? Anybody?

While I like Odie's muffler the most because he kept the interactive exhaust valve intact, I also like the big slash-cut end of the Drummer muffler. I want to modify one myself or get someone else to do it for me. I also want to keep the stock muffler in case I want to put it all back to stock at some time.

So, if anyone has a take-off that they are willing to donate or sell real cheap, I would like to get one before I muck around with mine.

I want to optimise using the exhaust servo and valve to maintain flat torque and HP curves. Sound will be a secondary goal but I prefer performance over sound any day. It can also be done with good looks too.

This would be a dyno-tuned muffler made to work with the stock ECM and improved airflow at the airbox via K&N air filtration.

Anybody that donates me a stock can will get theirs customised after I finish the first one for mine.

Time and money is all it takes to gain heaps of performance. The money part is what I have very little of so I guess I'l be begging for dyno time from somebody also.......

Steve,
You may want to talk to Odie before you go down this path. He has pipes in stock to rework and they are a great value. He's been down the "dyno path" to optimize his design and he is just the best guy to work with. Just go to the "Special OPS" website in the sponsor's section to get in touch with him. It's worth a call.

Thanks Brotherbuell. I may just do that.
