Ye ain't gonna like it. I'll be going with the Tiger. This forum helped me greatly with the decision, and a couple of you guys will likely be pleased, or at least satisfied, with it. Having ridden the Tiger a couple of years ago, I was delighted with it's handling, comfort, and it's all around ride-ability, not to mention that really huge gas tank. My limited experience with Buell (a short, ride on a Firebolt9, which can best be described as manic), coupled with the botched attempt to test ride the Uly, and the fact that most of the HD shops in the area have dropped Buell, all contributed to the decision. The local Triumph dealer has agreed to hold a black '06 until the end of May as soon as I can get him a small deposit. He's offering it at $11,5xx OTD with centerstand, heated grips, and all three bags with a backpad for the bride. The worst thing about it, is that this is one of the best MC Forum's I've found. I thank you all for your assistance, and hope to meet every one of you on the road - eventually. Steve Gear up! |

You can still hang out here. Are you coming up for the ride in the U.P. in May? |

The Tiger is a good bike...considered one myself. I hope you enjoy it. Are you aware of the Tiger forum? http://www.triumph-tiger.com/phpBB2/ Not as active as this board, but good folks and info there. |

I am considering a Scrambler for a second bike. I love Triumphs. Good luck with your new Tiger! |

Wasions It matters "not", what you ride. Only "that" you ride! Enjoy your new ride. Peace Milo |

That Scrambler looks sharp, doesn't it? The poor weight to HP ratio is going to hurt it though...500 pounds / 50 HP....needs some ooomph, IMO. |

It's all about the looks for me. It looks like something I would want to ride around the earth twice on. Aren't those Triumph twins endlessly oomphable? |

Well said, all. And thanks again. I probably will hang out here for awhile. I've sort of grown comfortable with y'all. Although I always liked the looks of the Scramblers (Honda 305/CL175/350/450, BSA Victor/Gold Star, etc.), what high pipes on four-strokes were most good for was leaving scars on inner calves and thighs. If you're going retroTriumph, the Thruxton looks like the berries. Naked/clip-ons/rearsets, and a 20hp or so boost. Appears great fun to me. Steve Gear up! |

Eor, thanks. I did find the Tiger Forum, and looked it over, but as you said, not much activity. And, it seems, not as much, uhm, shall I say 'marque dedication' as I've seen here, though, admittedly, I've just given it a cursory glance. Daves, nope. I'd really love to, but no vacation time until October. Have a great weekend up there! Steve Gear up already! (Message edited by wasions on February 03, 2006) |

There's a yearly Tiger ride-in you want to keep an eye out for. Last year, they came to Jasper, AR [just up the road from me].

Wasions: Good luck with the Tiger. They are a very good motorcycle and I really liked mine. The Ulysses (for me) was the bike I was waiting for. Still Ecstatic with My Buell Ulysses XB12X DAve |

Uh. Dave. Dude. I've been trying to forget I ever read that. I think maybe I won't ever test ride the Ulysses after all. Well....maybe. I'm too old for visceral. That's it - too old, and, uhm, intellyjint. Uh huh. Waaay too smaht. Steve Gear up, anyway. |

Dales in Mt Vernon was always real good about tossin' keys and makin' me take their bikes on test rides. Only bad thing was trying to find a curve. ...First place I scraped my heel cornering a V-Rod...my first ride on a Firebolt and a new Lighting. Wasions: Bother...you have not Rode a Ulysses???? Jerry and Dave, It's a little complicated. Dale's was where I crashed my DR. The entrance to the shop is (as you know) atop a cambered turn upon which the city deposited a thin coat of pea gravel. Low speed low side - high bike! They are a good bunch of folks, the parts lady drove me to the hospital, and they even offered to let me ride the Uly when I returned (with twelve stitches in my forearm). At that time though, I was accompanied by my lovely (though vicious ) wife, who was still getting over my last dump in March, and with whom I'd previously agreed to not ride until October. Perhaps I neglected to add that the scooter was the biggest and most powerful bike I'd owned in 37 years of riding. I've always liked little bikes. I think the Tiger will be fine. Steve Uh huh. |
