FWIW, the non-Buell quest is $375. Some good solid mounting hardware would cost <$50.

Short of having the HD/Buell dealer waypoints preloaded, and saying "Buell" they are the same.

"FWIW, the non-Buell quest is $375. Some good solid mounting hardware would cost <$50"

There are many hundreds of GPS options available that are not made specifically for Buell and for which you can buy a cheap universal mount. Some are even less than $375.

Who cares?

Who cares?

Someone who's about to spend $700, or $630 on an item that could be had for $400. Someone who isn't GPS savy enough to know better?

Just trying to help a brother out! ;)

Is it your personal opinion that we shouldn't discuss accessories and so on? Can we no longer discuss Cee Balieys screens now that Buell has one of their own?

I don't see your attitude flying around on threads about oil, filters, windscreens, or any of the many other topics discussing Buell OEM vs aftermarket. Heck, for most of the other topics there is at least something to discuss as the products are not identical as they are here.

Why take it out here? On me? I don't get it.

I'm with ya Steve. Just buy the Garmin unit without the Buell logo on it. If you really want it to say "Buell" on it, I know a guy with a vinyl cutter. He can make you a decal. : )

When I go to the drug store I always get the generic brand for 1/10 the price. I grocery shop at Aldi. No way I would pay more for a GPS just because of a logo, but that's just frugal tightarse me. I do buy Orville Redenbacher popcorn though, it IS better.

No that is not my opinion and I have not an attitude. I have just as much right to post in here as anyone else. My experience with the Buell Quest just differs from your unqualified prejudgment of the unit.

The specs for the Buell and Garmin Quests are identical. Even the firmware update links from Buell's page point to the standard Quest firmware, no special Buell version. I've even scanned the users manual. Same as the Garmin Quest.

So I think it's fair to evaluate the unit based on the Garmin Quest, which has been in market for some time.

I've had 1/2 dozen GPS units on my various motorcycles. And I've helped many friends get their first (and at times their 2nd or 3rd) GPS. I've got a pretty good idea what works for me, and what does not.

I like the Quest. It's map storage is not enough for my riding. 115MB just isn't enough. That gets frustrating after a short time for touring. For local riding it's probably enough.

The mounting hardware from Buell I've not seen. But honestly there isn't a good enough setup to be worth $300 to me.

Fair enough.

The Quest is not the ideal unit for everyone.
