Wow, I could not resist. With the unseasonable temps in Illinois today, I rolled the Uly out of my living room, into the garage, and put the cold weather gear on for its first ride! I hit the garage door opener and pushed the Uly out. Turned the key on and started it for the first time. Ah the big twin awakens. Got on and pulled the "two finger clutch", clicked it in first and started off on my first ride. It was dark and the temp had dropped to about 38. I had on my new Buell touring boots and Buell cold weather gloves. The bike is awesome, I kept it the tach below 2500 as per Buell breakin and will do the 500 miles all the same. I did my 9R this way and it has been a great bike. Rode 70 miles tonite as we are supposed to get snow tomorrow. It was GREAT! Thanks Erik and crew for another super job done!!
I had the bags and tailtrunk on, it was very windy and the bike was so stable, I rode roads that went all directions. The Uly never pushed like any bike I have ridden in the wind. I passed several flags and they were straight in the wind so the it was windy. The sound level is so low I did not have my earplugs in and when at speed my helmet was the the quietest I can ever remember.
Enough for now, just had to share my first thoughts on my ORANGE Uly.

How can anyone ride the ULY at 2500 or less without pulling a plug wire?

I've always been told that lugging an engine (especially a long stroker) is REALLY bad for it. Riding at less than 2500 rpm is lugging it for sure. The think doesn't get really happy until about 3000rpm and comes alive above 4000.

OEMs don't specify break-in parameters for the sadistic fun of it.

I rode my 9R as per Buell breakin, until 500 miles, changed the oil and filter. Then it was 3 days at Road America on the track with CLASS school and the BRAG track day. And that's where I met or saw my dealer and several others from Badweb.
And my 9R runs great. So why mess with success on breakin? And I just ride rural roads with little or no traffic... just waitin for the miles... I hear the Uly likes wheelies.....
