Post them stories if you got em!

I rode the Uly to work today and got to use it for a job! I entended to cross “Scott Creek” with it to go look at the water well pump house for the Sawmill and properties along "Swanton Rd" to inspect for possible water intrusion into the motor starter. Big system! It’s 24,000 volts via three step-up pole transformers at the power feed site at "Last Chance Rd." which is a mile and a half away from the pump site near “Scott Creek” where it's stepped back down to run the well pump.

Looking for smoke leaks in the wires...LOL!!!

The coolest part was riding my Uly and having to cross “Scott Creek” (on foot) to get to the pump site. I saw three large Salmon spawning in the creek!

I decided to leave the Uly and get across on foot so as not to disturb any eggs. That was a real treat to see and be a part of. That’s good news for us at Big Creek Lumber! The Fish and Game Dept will be glad to get a first-hand report of actual spawning in one of our previously logged areas. Unfortunately for us, fishing is a no no…. Our managed forests are pristine and look relativly un-touched!

Anyway, I got the bike really muddy! Dirt road for about two miles freshly rained on followed by short jaunt through a field of wet mushy grass! Left the bike at the creek crossing and did my work thing, then I gave it a proper baptismal by crossing the log-deck back at the mill. It’s about 100 yards of 6 to 8 inches deep of real watery mud, bark fiber, and other muck! Yee-ha! Damn near lost it once but found quickly that if I kept the speed up I could just plow right trough it! Muck was EVERYWHERE!! I think this bike is very capable of going almost anywhere you want to go!

With some more practice, maybe I can get there too! It was my first time ever off the asphalt so I guess not dropping it was a good first go of it although I was a bit wary through the whole experience.

I didn't get any pics because I didn't take a camera this time. Sorry...
Maybe next time.

BC Steve

Come on now, we know you got in on the spawning.

I was out on Monday (1/30).

The temps were in the 40s and it rained off and on Sunday so the streets were clean and salt free.

With this thread in mind I went for some dirt testing.

Mostly dirt roads. The bike was great. very neutral handling, no front end plowing or wollowing in the loose stuff. The suspension was up to the task unless pushed very hard in the pot holes. Even when it did bottom there wasn't any pitching or unexpected jaring. I understand the complaints about the front fender, alittle longer and wider and I think it would work. As it is, the mud/dirt is flung off at just the right height so that you ride into it.

I went off the dirt road into a field with a single track dirt bike trail through it. I was only there for a short time as it was getting dark. Let me first say that this is NOT a dirt bike. On the off angle stuff in the mud the tires were way maxed out! Actually that was the only complaint I had. A more aggressive off road tread would have improved the situation greatly. The brush guards work, it seems that all of the street do dads (turn signals, etc) are tucked in out of harms way. All in all it was a good ride!

I have some pics and will post them when I get home.

I have to figure out the whole picture posting thing!

Every time I try it I get an error message saying that they can't be any bigger that 70kb. I have adjusted the size and the pics are not over 70kb...what gives?

PS after looking at the pics I didn't really get that dirty. I will try harder.

Look at the size on disk.... the file may only be 60 kb but it might take up over 70

OK I'll stop now....

I think I have it sorted out. That really degrades the quality of the photo, too bad.
