So, here I am preparing for my trip to Death Valley (DVD XI Jan 27-30), and I realize I don't have any bag liners for the Uly luggage system - you know, the custom made canvas bags that fit neatly inside each bag.

I know I can pack without them, but if you've had them before (ask almost any BMW rider), you'll know they're a must have.

Anybody know if they exists - and if so, where can I buy a set - ASAP?

TIA

Hey Rhino - fill me in. They are a must have because.....?convenience (carrying stuff back and forth), ?protection (padding, keeping out road dirt?, etc. There are a couple of choices - You can find someone who can sew - it's really not to bad a project. I made a soft vinyl liner with a zipper seal for the top tail bag in less than one hour. It was not a perfect fit but it was very close. I finally ended up ditching it because I realized I couldn't put anything in it and still get my helmet in as well.

The second choice is what I do now - I just put a generic canvas stuff bag in there. It lies flat when I don't need it, conforms to the shape of the hard bag, and is about $2.99. It's not as cool as a custom made form-fitted liner but you can get them before you go.

Good luck - sounds like a cool trip

The cases are made by Helpco & Becker and I think they are the 'Journey' cases. If that is true H&B shows an "Inner bag for Journey case" on their site.

Midnightrider,
Shouldn't that bag have a big $ on it and be in a metal safe?

The Hepco Becker OEM bag liners are a little pricey at about $70 a each - but they are nice quality and they sure do look purrdy

No doubt Kathy's JD or Cee Baileys will start producing bag liners for the Uly soon - both make good bags and reasonable price.

It really is great to have a bag liner, made to fit, especially for hardcases that open to the side (rather than top open); It means you get to effectively utilize all available space, you can open your side bag and take something out without everything falling out, you can unload the hardbags without having to remove them, it makes it much easier to ensure you have weight distributed evenly, helps to keep dust out, convenient, blah, blah, blah.

Anyway, they should arrive just in time for my trip. This time of year, camping in Death Valley, it's gonna be mighty cold at night, so I'm gonna be sure to pack for comfort and warmth.

Cheers

Gamdh and Rhinowerx -- Thank you both for this great information. It couldn't have come at a better time. My husband is getting ready for bike week in March. This will be the first long distance trip with the Uly.

I also called Eurotech Motorsports and ordered a set of bag liners and the bumper guard on the outside of the hardbag that was damaged back in November. Chris at Eurotech Motorsports was most helpful and said that he was placing another order for bag liners in case anyone else was interested in a set. He said that someone else had just called and got the last full set he had -- good timing on your part Rhinowerx!!

Thanks again for answering my question even before I posted it!!

Bag liners make it much easier to load side opening cases. None of the endless tucking required to make sure the clothes your packed aren't going to interfere with the seal.

One latch and the hard bag comes off! Lay it on its mounting side and presto! Opens from the top! The built-in handle also makes it handy to just carry the whole thing to wherever you need to pack or unpack. I like keeping simple things simple.

Bag liners received today from Eurotech Motorsports - great service, and fast!

They fit the hard cases nicely The extra outer pocket (also an inner sleeve), are nice additions that will help make small items easily accessible.

Quickly took a picture before I ran out of light...

Cheers
