Daves, Can you say for certain that they all have the same spring constant for back pressure? |

Nope, I would use the HD one. Use the others and take you chances. For the few bucks per year difference why not just use the right one? |

thanks dave. no chance taken on the wix/napa filters. the only one i wouldn't use is the fram/walmart. the rest are quality and proven to be so. |

I'll stick with the one that comes in a Buell box. |

I typically order two oil filters at a time and use the OEM one. I figure I can't go wrong if I use the one the bikes comes with. In the past, that has cost me upwards of $12 per filter. Buell parts are so damn cheap, that I could order two for the price of one Ducati or Yamaha filter. |

I use a Wix p/n 51394. It has a catchy name. |

I don't use oil filters I just have a plug and it bypasses the filter altogether. It's a lot cheaper that way and I don't keep my bikes very long so the next guy gets screwed. I do use good oil but it comes from the used oil container at work. But believe me some of that stuff still has a few hundred miles on it. I have never had an engine problem. |

The special oil filter wrench needed for my old BMW R1200GS was ~$80. There were a few nice aftermarket ones for $40, then someone finally made a plastic one for $8. That was for just the filter wrench. I must say, the prices quotes for the OEM bits really aren't that bad. Maybe it's just my perspective. |
