Figured I'd check the oil tonight when I got home. To my dismay there was some white puke on the dipstick and a coat at the base of it. What gives? My prior experience with puke has been with breathers... I have been riding quite a bit in the cold (as low as 9F) and figure that's probably the issue. | ||

Mine does the same thing. My miles are mostly a 10 mile commute to and from work and I don't think that the engine is ever fully warming up on those 30 something degree days and is leaving the condensation/moisture in the crankcase and oil tank. As a remedy I try to get it out on the open road on the weekends for 1/2 hour to 45 min just to get everything nice and warm and evaporated out. Any other info will be greatly appreciated though. Must be a leak from the cooling system water into the combustion chamber---oh ,wait,no watercooling.Scratch that and see above posts-- | ||

I've seen it suggested that it's a good idea to block to air to the oil cooler if you do a lot of riding in the cold. It would help the oil get up to running temp quicker. | ||

Dudeman - A quick check would be to go on a ride long enough to get the oil temp up above 212F. If the puke goes away, its probably condensate. | ||

In the owners manual it says if you use it for sort comutes to change the oil more often, most likley it is water, unless you ride for like at least 30 min and get it fairly hot that water won't evaporate out of the oil! | ||

Change the oil. Change it now. With it already having a buildup of water you'd need to ride it a long way to evaporate all of it. Change the oil Change it now. | ||

Well, I figured the standard puke, but didn't expect to see it there. Anyway, today is going to be a balmy 50s, so I'll go for a long ride and report back. On the other hand, I changed the oil at 500 and am close to 1500 so ready to change it again. | ||

I've seen the white stuff in oil before. It's water from combustion. Everyone is right, go ride the bike and get it hot. That should do it. | ||

Well, I picked the corn out of it and hit the trail. Rode'er hard for almost 90 miles. Still some white crapola in the tank... I'm due for my 2nd oil change so I'll play it safe. I like the idea of covering the oil cooler for winter driving. The uly seems to make more puke than other bikes I've had. | ||
