Uly Low, I mean. I'm desperately in love with the Uly. The riding position is great, nice comfy seat, the handlebars and footpegs are perfect for me and proper hard luggage. What's not to love? The fact that I can't get one off the sidestand? Yep, that's it. My 28" inseam is keeping me from buying a Ulysses. Please don't tell me about the lowered seat. it's not gonna help. What I'd love to hear is that Buell will produce a Ulysses Low for us normal sized guys. =) Short* of that, would someone be so kind as to email a list of parts needed to convert my SX into one (minus the suspension parts, naturally)? Bob *Pun intended. |

Normal sized? At 6'5" with a 36" inseam, I'd hate to ask what you'd classify me as. Here's me on my Uly:

Buy a Multistrada. Think of it as an air cooled v-twin for those with 28 inch inseams. |

Nedwreck, stuff to ponder maybe (ballpark prices).. 1. Uly modules/fairing/screen/etc: $234. 2. Uly power outlet: $14. (+wiring) 3. Uly 3-piece cf front fender: $230(?). (clearance issues?) 4. Uly upper beak cf fender: $90(?). 5. Uly reinforced wheels: $626. (sell your old(?)) Some of this stuff being yacked about & attempts at parts lists over on the XBoard. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/32777/162992.html?1134014822 http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/32777/163426.html?1134215234 To 'really' do it you'll need to start with a XBSs.. 1. 2006 XBSs Lightning Long: $10,495.00 + Freight: $240.00 |

2006 XBSs Lightning Long: $10,495.00 + Freight: $240.00 Or you could take the other approach- buy a new Uly and swap front forks and rear shock from a regular XB. There would probably be rear wheel clearance issues; during the "live chat" session at Buell.com a few months back a Buell engineer said the Uly tail section could not be bolted directly onto an XB12Ss because the wheel would contact the underseat area at full compression. |

Nedwreck (Bob) Perhaps it's just wishful thinking but I think Buell will fill the need. When will the XB9X be released? |

No question Buell has targeted taller/larger riders with the Uly. The rest of their product line is pretty much for sub 6 footers only, with the lowered versions fitting folks shorter than that. I know I'm being selfish, but it's about time a motorcycle company other than KTM and BMW figured out not all riders are built like jockeys. I can't tell you the number of bikes I've lusted over, but couldn't fit comfortably on. Back to back weekends I've gone on rides where I was in the seat for over two solid hours and never experienced any knee pain. I didn't have to take any Advil, or even so much as stretch my legs. That may not sound like a long time to ride, but typically I'm pretty well in pain after 75 miles or so and have to stop at about 100 to take drugs or stretch. I even fitted my Ducati with huge frame sliders I can rest my legs on for periods of time. I used to have to stand and stretch every 25 miles or so, but I've never stood up on the Uly. Never needed to. This is a bike I can ride all day and not have my knees swell to the point where I can't straighten them out. Of course, none of this changes the fact that owning a hardcore sportbike is completely out of the question for me and always will be. You guys who aren't cursed with over average height, thank God for it. We won't even get into trying to find clothes or riding gear that fits. THANK GOD FOR ERIK BUELL!! |

Chad, I can relate. I'm only 5'10", a chiseled 200lbs with size 10 regular shoes and boyish good looks, but I do have a larger than normal ego. Lee |

I started to go there, but couldn't make it work. I was trying to co-miserate; not make you feel worse. |
