Jersey,

I really don't need the bling on a ULY so I'll wait for a black anodized version. Please keep me in mind when they come in.

TIA
Frank

What is that? It doesn't look like an exhaust.

Ok...I'm a Buell newbie. What's a catch can? Do I need one of these things? Never had one on any of my other bikes.

Not really Chad. I never had one on my other bike and as far as I know it never needed one. Maybe someone else has another opinion. What am I saying maybe lol.

I'm sorry, guys. I should have explained what it was. In a nutshell, the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valves dump a fair amount of water and a bit of oil back into your air intake. The PCV hoses are reconfigured to divert this condensation & oil into a small "catch can" which is periodically emptied by you instead of going through your engine. A 70 mile ride a couple of weeks ago yielded about a shot glass of water on my XB12Ss. It has been stated that it gains a couple of HP. Honestly, I doubt it, but I don't know for sure.

Do you need it? NO. Do you want it? I hope so. We have a dozen of them on order from the machine shop.

Mad - Do you want the polished or black anodized? I can do a bead blasted matte aluminum finish too.

So basically it's the thing I removed from my Ducati that now allows the oil and junk to blow all over my rear hugger? : ) LOL!!!

Just a quick question. What is wrong with putting it through the engine rather than collecting it in a can. If you got a shot glass of water in yours when you went for a 70 mile drive you must be doing a lot of short riding. Like back and forth to work.

Chad - You got it. lol. This is a bit more civilized.

Thunder - My daily riding is mostly around 30 miles or so and 100 miles on weekends. If you look at your velocity stack you'll see oily residue on it as well. It seems logical, if not necessary, that its better to keep this residue out of the intake tract.

Every other engine uses the PCV valve to suck this stuff into the engine where it is burnt. It is the first polution control device that came out.

I find it takes quite a long time to get the oil in the Buell hot enough to burn off all the condensation. 30 miles isn't far enough to get the oil over 200 degrees. This is precisely why you should not run your engine for short periods of time if it is in storage. Just leave it alone for the winter and keep the battery charged.

Do you, or can you, put a fatlet on the SS?
Spoiler mounts and a fatlet, Hmmmmmmm.........

Ok, these are questions for everyone that's have the Drummer SS installed and a few miles ran beneath it. How has the SS looks held up to road grime? Any permanent staining? What's cleaning it like and how have you been cleaning it?
And lastly, how come the response to the "Buy Slayer a New Drummer SS Fund" posting has been less than overwhelming?

Slayer - I've got about 900 miles on my Drummer SS and it has held up quite well. I travel down a long dirt lane to my factory every day so it gets quite dusty (I wipe my bike off almost every day briefly with a wet paper towel as therapy). The rear and body of the Drummer SS are as new. I don't use the chin spoiler so the front in the center shows some tiny nicks from road grime. It generally wipes clean though and only an anal person (like me) would notice it.

Mad - The outlet pipe isn't a fatlet but it doesn't have a cheap thin look. I know that Kevin made a fatlet SS for a 9 and it was alot of extra work.

Windaddiction you should be happy it wasn't sent by UPS. They charge a percentage for brokerage like about 12% plus the GST. Count your blessings buddy. How long was the turn around for the muffler?

Send me pics of your bikes for the website. The Customer Bikes page is getting bigger daily. It's kind of cool to look at all the bikes from around the world regardless of the fact that they are all Drummer customers.

What is the cost of getting one without sending mine? I'll probably take the same route if it's reasonable and just keep the stock can around just in case I ever need a back-up.
