Wondering if anyone has had issues with their check engine lamp coming on. Mine has lit up twice in the initial 500 miles. Seems to happen when I start the bike, or shortly thereafter. So far I have been able to clear it by turning the key off and starting over. I will mention this at the first service appointment. Thoughts?

Jim,

There was some mention of a problem with the interactive exhaust valve in the muffler on the very first few Uly's. Al Lighton for one had a problem with his which caused the check engine light to come on. You could contact him or search the archives for the info. I think it's an easy fix at the dealer.

Next time your light comes on:

go to the diagnostic port under your seat. Looking into the connector with the latch up, the two pins on the right get shorted together. The check engine light will flash the blink codes.

6 flashes
one flash per second (count them)
2 second pause
one flash per second (count them)
6 flashes
repeat the above.

If you get 2 flashes then one flash, it's code 21, muffler servo. Get the dealer to replace it, it has a bad worm gear inside.

if you get other codes, then it's something else.

These are mighty handy:
trouble code dongle. They come with a card that has the codes on them, fits under your seat, makes roadside diagnosis a piece of cake.
