Maintenance nightmare. The valves in a desmo head are famously difficult to gap. |

Actually the 2-valve heads are pretty easy to maintain (I have a '92 900SS) once you get the knack. The valvetrain is very stable; no valve springs! I put 40,000 trouble-free miles on mine before it fragged a main bearing. Easy rebuild. Still...not the engine I would choose to ride around the world! |
