Ok, I know I won't get a reeeeeal accurate amount here, but it will give me an idea.

I'm wondering what all of you Uly owners are paying in insurance. I've been here that the Uly is not listed as a sportbike which can help in how much you pay. Biggest thing keeping me from getting it is worry about insurance.

I just got mine and added it to my current AAA coverage. I also have a V-Strom 650, Jeep and Altima on that coverage.

I have high coverage, uninsured motorist and a low deductable so my rates might be higher and I am in Socal.

I am paying $520 per year on the Uly.
I checked with Geico today and they quoted $870 per year on the Uly for the same coverage I had with AAA. If I dropped to their basic full coverage, it still would have been $550.
I stayed with Autoclub.

Mine added $13 per month to my State Farm policy for full coverage. That is after my discount for the MSF course.

I'm at $287/year through Markel's Bike-Line (http://www.bike-line.com) with safe-driver discount, and basic coverage (I'm in Chicago, IL.)

When shopping around, they were by far the best price I came across. GEICO was one of the worst even though we have two cars insured with them.

With the money I saved, I may up the coverage, lower the deductable, or both.

Hardcorps, either you have the worst driving record in the history of mankind, or something in the system got goofed...

Hope it's the latter! :-)

State Farm gave me $142/year, but I also have my car, truck, and house with them, the MSF discount, good driver discount, and live in Kansas.

My insurance is with Dairyland. I was paying $480/yr for my Ducati Monster and my FJR1300. When I dropped the FJR and added the Uly, my insurance increased $200/yr!

Humm...dropping a more expensive, plastic covered, couch rocket for a less expensive, slower bike and my premiums go UP!?! I'll be shopping around.

Through Progressive my 00 HD FXR4 was 488/yr for full coverage with high limits, UM and 500 ded. I am 44, have 1 ticket and live in NorCal. Deleting the FXR and adding the Uly the policy went to 605/ yr.

The exact amount I pay wouldn't help you much as we have four bikes and two riders listed on the policy and are discounted the maximum amount by Progressive. FWIW, the yearly premium is $488.

However, the yearly premium on the Ulysses is approximately HALF the premium of my CityX. Even though it has a larger engine, it isn't in the same category as the CityX...at least for now, and with Progressive.

The premium on the CityX doubled while I owned it, reflecting its reclassification by the insurance industry...wouldn't be surprised to see the same thing with the Uly in a few months after it develops a history of claims.

If the ULY premiums increase I'll drop to just state min liability. Seems like these insurance companies will get their money back if you ever claim anything anyway. Make a claim and they up your premium. What a bunch of shiesters.

My jaw dropped when I started nosing around for insurance quotes on an XB12X.
Foremost which was insuring my R1100RT at a vary favorable rate (less than 400 bones)quoted me a whopping $931.00, Progressive is approx $940.00.
This is for a person who has been riding the last 18 years, with no tickets or accidents, MSF instructor.
The search is on. Hell I only pay $420.00 for full coverage on my GSXR with Nova Casualty (I need to check with them next week). From what I am reading though Bike Line might be the way to go.
My S2 Thunderbolt was dirt cheap to insure and now it seems they are placing Buell in the same league as most sport bikes, not sport tourers. I'll be doing alot of quote research next week.

I think insurance companies may be having a hard time classifying the XB12X since it's a 2006 models and doesn't appear in their systems.

I got my insurance through BikeLine, and while it's pretty reasonable, I think it's still more than it should be. They couldn't find the bike model in their system when they wrote the policy, and on my paperwork it's showing up as a X1.

Hopefully after the new year things will get sorted out.

I went down to pay the taxes and license my new ULY yesterday. Cost me just shy of 800 bucks. Took awhile too. My Uly was the first one licensed in the state of Nebraska according to the licensing guy. NE taxes the crap out of you. You name it and they tax you for it. The Buell originated title had a listing of 9.8 hp and the guy wanted to know if this low hp'd bike was even road worthy. He had to make all kinds of calls. I told him that the Buell title also called out 1204cc and that it should read 98 hp not 9.8. Finally got out of there with a thinner wallet. Snowing like crazy here in Omaha right now.

One factor when I ordered my Uly was the quote in the Cycle World test that Buell had "worked with the insurance companies" to lower rates via the frame guards, etc. - the dealer told me this was so - I have not yet checked with my carrier, anyone know if this is true?

Mine is with Chicago Insurance. Got both cars and the bike with them, full coverage runs me about $1600 a year which is way less than it was with USAA. Haven't had a ticket since 1986, either. When I dropped my ZX-10 and added the Uly, it went up $76 a year. Chicago just goes by cost, not displacement.

I live in north Georgia and currently have my KTM 950 Adventure insured through Progressive Direct for $316.00 a Year. I did the online 'quote a policy change' to replace the KTM with a Uly (will happen in early Jan) and the new amount was $351.00 (a $35 difference a year). Funny, once you select 'Buell' for the manufacturer the model pulldown only has 'All Harley Davidsons'.. not sure the insurance companies have figured out what the Uly is just yet. I had similar issues when I first tried to ensure my KTM in early '04.
