I don't give a **** what anybody's opinion is on the oil debate. I just want to report that immediately after I switched to a Wix oil filter and Mobile 1 20W50 for V-Twins, I noticed that my fan runs substantially less. In fact, it does not run at all while on the freeway like it did. It also does not run when I shut the bike down after riding to/from work. It used to run for about 7 minutes upon every shut down. Now when it runs, it does so after a long ride, but stays on for a fraction of the time it did just the day before the oil change. I also noticed wheelies happen more readily in second gear. I am not a fan of any particular brand of anything (unless we're talking GPS units) and am not advocating the use of synthetic oil. In fact, this is my first experience with an all-synthetic oil. I am pleased enough with the results I have seen so far that I thought they were worth sharing. I will definitely be sticking with some kind of synthetic oil until the motor eats itself. |

Did you notice the change in fan operation or the additional power after putting in the synthetic? Any model Garmin makes is the best GPS money can buy. Any other brand is a waste of money. What model to buy really depends upon what you want to do with it. If you want a good one to mount on the bike and that you can also use in a cage, the Quest models are great. They are waterproof and can really take a beating. The Quest 2 comes pre-loaded with detailed maps. That is cool for anyone who doesn't want to mess with loading maps from a PC to the unit. I prefer to load maps myself since it makes searching for stuff and route calculating a lot faster on the unit. IOW, it won't include every ****ing Wal-Mart in North America in its search results when you are just looking for the nearest one. The Quest is small enough to be mounted easily on any bike and can be carried in a shirt pocket when you need to dismount. If you need a more versatile unit, say for use in more than just driving/riding, there are many more models to choose from. |
