I have recently installed the Motolight brand of accessory lighting on the front forks and changed the low beam H7 bulb to the PIAA 55=100 watt bulb and it made a huge difference in night riding. Has anyone else tried these lights? | ||

I've put a 100w "superwhite" high beam in my Uly as well. Like you said a HUGE difference from stock. Some folks said the increased wattage would melt the headlight housing. This is bunk, no problems at all after several hundred miles. How do the Motolights look? Bet their awesome! | ||

I need to take some much lower resolution pics of the bike. It wont accept them here. They install on the upper forks, cost $300.00 and cut a much bigger swath of the road in front of you. I have had very few cars flash their hi beams at me, so I must have angled them right. The superwhite was a bulb that I had installed in my VMAX last year. Much more light, not so much heat that I was worried about light housings, but they only last about a year. The good news is, the local Harley store says they are warranted for 1 year, so if you get them, hold onto your reciept. | ||

I had them on my Road Glide, then took them off when I traded it in for the Uly. When adjusted correctly (trial & error), they come close to doubling the stock set up. Maybe around 20-30 yards more side vision. That came in handy riding though western Texas at night. Spotted 11 deer in 2 hours. They all froze, unlike the Wisconsin deer around here. I also lit up a cop that was tucked in back of an on ramp. He didn't like that at all. Wound up following me for about a half hour, then took off. One light quit working and I sent it back. I received an email last week for Motolights and they will repair/replace the light for $7.50 shipping costs. I'm debating whether to just replace the bulb, as Bosh did, or to mount the Motolights on the Uly. Bulb is easier, (now that the superwhites won't burn the headlight housing), but then I'll have a $400 auxillary set-up collecting dust. I'm sure Cabin fever will help me make up my mind. Did you hard wire them to the high beam? | ||

I didnt connect them to the high beam setup-- I have them on all the time or off all the time with the provided switch. The more the other cars and bikes can see me-- even during the day-- the better. All in all, I am glad that I did the upgrade. | ||

I upgraded the low beam bulb to a Sylvannia Silver Star 55W and the high beam to a 100W Eiko(?). I just added a pair of Night Cutter driving lights from Saeng. I put them on the front turn signal stalks but I am not entirely happy with them there. The forks would probably be a better place. I may put a 100W in for the low beam as well at a later date. | ||

How difficult would it be to rewire the lights so that both of them are used for Hi and Lo beams? I'd really prefer to have two lights one all of them time. | ||

They look like they belong on the bike - very nice. You should get little stone guards for them so they match the headlights... Just curious, but do they wash out your turn signals at all being that close to the signal lights? Is there any way to get some pics at night? | ||

How about some pics of your wiring/ switch. Where did you connect to the bikes system? I'm interested for my Uly to add aux lighting, lots of bambi's here and I don't want to meet any up close  | ||

As far as I can tell, they don't affect the turn signals at all, stone guards would be matching, but I think I would have to make them because I have yet to see them on another bike. Before this, I saw them mostly on BMW's. Right now, the on/off switch is mounted under the seat and wired directly into the fuse box. The switch that comes with the setup looks fine, but does not have the proper orientation for mounting on the dash, which would be the most convenient. So, it sits under the seat until I find one that is flat enough to be mounted--and look like it should be mounted- on the dash. | ||

Hey Guys, Not to highjack the thread, but I put a pair of PIAA 004XT driving light on my XB12X. They are small ~2.5" diameter and 55W each. I cut the power outlet off the power cable in the dash. Hooked the +12V wire to the 'source' side of a rocker switch, the 'load' side (of rocker) goes to the PIAA relay and the ground (from outlet harness) goes to the rocker ground. I then mounted the rocker in the outlet hole in dash using a big washer from the hardware store. The PIAAs work great, draw power from my aux. fuse block under the seat via the relay and if I want to change it the power outlet is $15 from any dealer. Went in to a shop to get a PIAA 55W/100 and ended up with a PIAA Extreme White 55W/110 lamp. The guy in the shop told me he ran one in his softtail and never had a heat or current problem. I'll let you know | ||

So I picked up the PIAA 55W = 110 H7 lamp today. I have a fair mechanical aptitude but not much experience. I spent a good 20 minutes tuning the suspension for the first time - I was so afraid I'd mess it up and not be able to get it back to the way it was. Anyway, while I'm stuck at work now I'm wondering if there is anything complicated about the replacement or is it as simple as it seems? Is it something I can do in the parking garage at 11 pm or should I wait for a better place? And yes, I know not to touch the glass part of the lamp. Thanks | ||

DM - go to the PIAA web site http://www.piaa.com/BulbApplications.php then hit "Dealer Search" along the left hand margin I used "Search 2" to find a dealer. They had to order it but it was there the next day Don | ||
