Has anyone installed or investigated Fastway footpegs for a Uly? If so, what product number fits & how do you like them?

Have them on my 12GS (soon to go for the Uly) & love them.

Thanks in advance
John

I've just had Crossorads machine me up some of their Fierce Competition footpegs to fit the Uly.
The footpeg fitting width on the Uly is a couple of mm less than the older XB models, so you can't fit pegs designed for use on these unless you are prepared to shave some metal off.

Fastways would rock. Maybe take some measurements and call the company?

If not, in the meantime, if the Fierce Competitions are going into production, they look like an improvement over stock.

I've noticed the stock pegs on the Ulysses have a drop from the mounting point to the top of the foot platform. Unless the aftermarket pegs have this as well wouldn't it mess up the relationship of foot position to the brake and shifter pedals?

The stock shifter/brake pedal are adjustable so this shouldn't be an issue. I fitted the Crossroads billet foot controls at the same time though. They have replaceable toe pegs and are much togher than the cast original items.

Matt,
Your post several up about having to shave the footpegs is good info. I thought the regular XB pegs would fit because Buell lists the regular XB traction pegs on the Uly Control Accessories page.

See http://www.buell.com/en_us/bikes_gear/accessories/index.asp?Menu_ID=4&ID=65

I wonder why they made them different? Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to change those dimensions.

Al

Hi Al,
I agree, it makes no sense to me either. Maybe they thought that the extra mm would make the hangers slightly stronger?
Crossroads can now supply them off the shelf to fit the Uly though.

FASTWAYS ARE AVAILABLE!

Received the following answer from Fastway on pegs for the Uly:

John,

Thanks for the info. Sounds like it will use the same collar as our Yamaha
TT-R pegs. Part number is 22-2-203/204 (F3/F4 respectively). Give me a
call with questions or to order.

Cheers,

I agree with Bosh to an extent--I'm not worried about the relationship between the pegs and controls (that's adjustable to some extent as has been pointed out)but I don't want my pegs to be an inch higher or even half an inch higher. Looking at the part numbers supplied on the fastway site, it looks like that would be the situation and looking at the fastway principle vs. the Ulysses thinking, I'm not sure there's a quick and easy solution, without some pricey machining.

dunno.

Spoof: Fastways can be mounted in either a hi OR lo position depending on which side the collar is mounted into. On my 12GS, the lo position was +/- 1' lower than stock.

I get both the Uly & the Fastways next week. I'll update folks when then get here & are mounted.

Update much appreciated. I wouldn't be able to order and experiment until then any way, so I'm happy to benefit from the fruits of your adventure---and looking forward to one day having Fastways.

Speedstar,
According to Daves, bike is "still in transit" from the Mothership. Seems it's taking the "scenic route" since it shipped the 9th of Nov.

Good news is I have the pegs!

Keep 'ya posted.

Namibian - sorry to hear you haven't gotten it yet. I hope for your sake you get it soon.

Do these pegs have the same drop down that the stockers do? I was concerned about the pegs being raised up as I have the lower seat and don't want the pegs higher. What is the Fastway part # for these? Thanks for the help.

Speedster,

Part # is 22-2-203 or 204. It is same as Yamaha TT-R per Fastway. 203/204 is whether or not U want fixed spikes or different height ones that must be screwed in. Can't remember which is which. I have the fixed ones. Don't know @ drop yet but, remember, U can mount them Hi or Lo depending on which side of the peg U mount the bushing (into which the retaining bolt fits)

UPDATE:

I've been dying for news on this for too long now. I phoned up Fastway and was told that no model they currently have fits the Ulysses. It can be forced with significant material removal on both their peg and the Ulysses bracket as well as altering the collar for the pin. They're thinking about a couple ways to resolve the issue, but won't get serious about it until the market is big enough---so, basically not happening for the time being.
